Sister 1:
Being evacuated from her house on Wrightsville Beach NC today. They are going to go inland, all of about 10 minutes or so, to a friends condo. They have packed some water, fruit and snacks. My brother in law doesn't want to go too far, they just moved in to their brand new house on the beach last summer. I get it but get the frig out of there! Judging from her texts already today she's really scared, I so hope at least she and my niece go a few more miles (or states) down the road and leave my BIL behind. UGH

Sister 2:
Lives in Cary NC (Raleigh) with tons of huge trees and saturated land. She has enough supplies (and a new generator) to last 4 months I think and is still stocking. My niece is at UNC, she's going home. My nephew lives in the big city in a small apartment complex, he's going home.

Sister 2 told sister 1 to come to her house, but yeah, they won't and are staying close (so far). I don't see how they can be related and be so different LOL

I don't know what some people think they can do by staying during a storm
Everyone else in the family has pointed out (firmly and loudly) that the mud, water and yuck will be there whether they get back on the island the next day or a week later. She knows that but her husband (and I do like him) is a controlling jackass, so close they will stay with no supplies.

Yeah, I have no idea what he's thinking and just hope he comes to his senses and gets his family to safety. This one is certainly nothing to be trifled with.
A weather guy up here was explaining how the terrain of the Carolina's differed from Florida or the Gulf Coast and it would exacerbate the inland rainfall as the storm front hits the mountains, in turn, making mudslides potentially worse. Scary stuff.
