Galaxy S8 charging problems

Hello

My new Galaxy S8 has some problems revolving around charging the device. Whenever I plug the device in to charge, it doesn't recognise it and doesn't charge. The only exception to this is when I plug the charger in whilst it's turned on and hold down the power and volume down buttons until it powers off, which it then acknowledges it's being charged and charges normally.

The second problem is that whenever the phone has the cable plugged into it, it can't be turned on.

Is this normal behaviour or is there something wrong with the phone? Thanks in advance.

There is definitely a glitch, check the contacts (plug in) for corrosion or a short circuit. Wireless charging is a temporary solution. I hope someone knows more. I wish you the best of luck

Oh, I've never heard of this one. I would be interested to see if this does sort out the OPs issues. :thumbsupdroid:
The charging port has several safeguards to prevent damage to the phone. If moisture is detected in the port it disables the port. In theory once the port is dry, it should re-enable the port. There is a know problem where the port will not enable, moisture error stored in software. Clearing the cache and data removes the stored error and all is good. The OP problem sounds similar, worth a try.

Is it a Samsung exclusivity?
