Schedule Text Message to Send Later

Hi,

I am using the Samsung Galaxy S9. Android version Provider Sprint.

I currently have the apps 1) "Messages" by Google LLC and 2) "Messages" a Galaxy App installed on my device.

I would like to be able to schedule text messages to send later at a time of my choosing. According to my research one of the above apps should be able to do that, however, assuming that is correct, I cannot figure out how to do it from within the user interface. If one of those two apps cannot achieve my objective, I am willing to install any other 3rd party app that will get the job done. Please advise. Thanks.

I think from within your preinstalled messaging app that came along with the phone provide such service. Try the settings page and see what you can do. Or better still, do a little research online to find out what works best.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I don't have the option within the settings of either of the two apps I listed to schedule a text message to be sent later. Do you think this a setting that varies by service provider?

Also, I just discovered that sprint allows messaging through a web interface since July 2018 at https://messages.android.com/ - pretty cool, but still no text later setting.

Finally, I am not getting "watch thread" email notifications for this topic even though I have subscribed and am watching it through the forum. Any ideas what's up with that?

@tube517 You are correct. I re-checked the Samsung Messages app and was able to find the Schedule message feature. In my opinion this feature takes a bit too much work and digging to find and use, and I don't like the interface of the Samsung Messages app. I wish the Google Messages app had the schedule text feature. I may start using a different app like Textra.

Do you guys have a favorite text messaging app that offers the scheduling feature?

Answer: Mood Messenger
Best I've found.
Google Messages was my fave until they decided to get rid of customization
Mood allows future sending of messages; per-thread customization of backgrounds, etc
A very good app.

(I've also tried Textra, Samsung Messenger, Pulse SMS, YAATA, QKSMS, GO SMS, and a few others. The customization is key for me; you don't want to be sending the wrong msg to the wrong person. The flexibility of Mood is incredible. I don't work for mood, and I did buy the pro version to support the developer.)

That's interesting. I'll check it out. I'm finding it hard to move away from Google Messages though. The ability to use the Google Messages app with my laptop's web browser is simply amazing. When I am using my laptop, I send all of my messages through the laptop browser without ever having to pick up my phone! For me, this makes up for not being able to schedule a text (but I have made this feature request to Google).

The web feature is such a game changer IMO.

Is it possible to use two apps for messaging without being prompted to make the secondary app the default? I've tried this is the past, but any time I try to use the non-default app, I get the prompt to make it the default. And there appears to be no way to not get rid of that prompt. If I could use Textra on my device and use Google Apps on laptop for the web feature, and not be annoyed with a "make me default prompt" that would be ideal.

Gotcha thanks. I will continue using Google Messages because I love the web feature. I submitted a "feature request" for the schedule later functionality to be added to the Google Messages app as a comment in the Google Play store, but is there an official place where I can submit this feature request to the Android developers, and get input/likes from other users, etc?

You can control your Samsung phone on your laptop even more completely with Samsung Flow. Just install it on your laptop and your phone and you're good to go. You can read and reply to ALL your notifications. Doesn't matter if it's SMS, Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat or whatever. It works whatever app it is. You can dismiss any notification from it as well, as well as transfer files from the laptop to the phone and vice versa.

Great tip thanks! I'm trying it out. Looks like Samsung Flow has really bad ratings/reviews on both Mirosoft Store and Google Play. I wonder why? Anyways, that's not stopping me from giving it a whirl, it sounds awesome.
It's got bad ratings because the software it replaced is better (SideSync). Basically they forced the S9 users to go Samsung Flow even if it's not yet feature parity with SideSync. Anyone coming from SideSync to Samsung Flow will be disappointed.
