Help Controlling status bar color

If your current launcher doesn't have a custom setting for the notification bar's color, the only way to do it is to edit one of Android's system files to prevent apps from dynamically alter the bar's color.

Thanks for the input. I don't plan on rooting this phone (in the immediate future), so modifying system files isn't an option.

I'm using the same launcher I've used for eons, ADW Launcher EX. I've literally put my old and new phones side by side, with ADW's settings open, and stepped through to find any discrepancies, but I'm not seeing any. Same for device settings. So is this a new [unwanted, unchangeable] Android 'feature?' I'm running 8.0.0.

It's not really new, according to my finding the notification bar's color can be customized since Android 5.0

But it becomes extremely popular today with the the phones having bezel-less styles and notches at the top. Launchers and apps must relay on it to give users the best visual experience possible.

Well, I've found a workaround, which is not perfect, so if anyone has further input, please post.

My workaround: an app called Status Bar & Notch from the Play Store. It only controls the color of the status bar, not the color of its contents. So I've set its color and opacity to work most like what I want, but it's not as good as what I had on my previous phones.
