Ad Blocking Apps

After about a week of owning my Note 9...I just started getting an ad from Google for their Pixel 3 phone. Soon as I load up Chrome. Is there a powerful Ad Blocker app that can stop ALL ads from appearing anywhere on our phone?

I have "black some ads" enabled. Clearly that won't block Google ads or companies that's partnered with Google. :)

Any good free apps to recommend? Got one called Tinker that loads a sort of "always-on screen" (has phone stats and an ad...which most of us have seen. Luckily you can disable Tinker...assuming that doesn't trigger a barrage of other ads...Hope it didn't. :)

The Adguard app works system wide - I've used it on my Pixel 2.

But you won't find apps like that (or Blockada, Block This, DNS66, etc) in the Play Store. Google don't want them. You have to download them from the vendor (or F-Droid store for one of those named above) and sideload.

None is as good as a proper iptables-based adblocker in my experience, but those need root. But each of those can block a decent number of ads.

I assumed it only took care of the two mentioned. I was looking in the Google Play Store. The Ad Root app got a better rating so I am using it.

Problem is I want to use Google's g-mailnd it need Google access. which gives Google the ability to put ads in front of the home screen.

No it doesn't. I also am using a Note 9 and I get no ads because of G-mail or Google services. There is some app on your phone causing the ads.

No Root Firewall. It you ' deny' an app should that app not still work? And only block ads in the background?

Adguard content Blocker. It you look on Google Play it says it only works w/ 2 apps

Adguard is only available on their website. What you arr seeing on google play is a different app. Here you. Tjis is what I use.
