Please make a ESPN fantasy app somebody!!!

Most places don't have open API's for developers to access for their own apps, which is why you don't see many. It is left to the content provider, and they are always super slow and don't want to make an app for every phone. But I imagine most big ones are going to start jumping on the Android platform pretty soon.

I think my league is changing sites this year (screw you fanball), and an available Android app will be one of the deciding factors (half the members have Android phones).

Can someone inform me as to if a dev can even use ESPN in their apps? I would assume there'd be some legality issues in terms of trademark/naming rights no?

There are so many trademark and copyright violations on the markets its crazy. How bout those people who make a Star Wars theme and then charge 99 cents for it. Wait til Lucas comes down on them.

Free would be nice but a $2-$5 app that works GREAT... I'll take it, over a Free app that has problems or doesn't do everything.
Agreed

Devs always complain that marketplace is so full of cheap free crap that they won't make money with an actual "pay for" product. In the case of Fantasy Baseball, there isn't even a cheap crappy program. First dev to make a nice one and put a price on it is ganna rake in the cash

Hey guys,

Thought I'd chime in. I'm the developer behind FantasyMonster for iPhone FantasyMonster App for iPhone|FantasyMonster

It supports all Yahoo! fantasy teams (I'm currently working on full ESPN support).

I've been considering porting to Android but I'm wary of piracy and lack of payment options (Google checkout only).

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that there are devs thinking about doing a fantasy app. I'm an avid fantasy player myself.

I'm leaning toward going for it since there really isn't a lot of competition on Android right now (like there is on iPhone). So if no one else comes out with anything I just might do it.

If you make the app I will most certainly purchase it, and will recommend it to my fantasy baseball league...

This is a sure profit maker for any Dev.... Any basic fantasy app would be purchased by so many people b/c the lack of apps out there. Please somebody make one before football season.... that's where the real money is... lets keep this post going so hopefully somebody with the proper skills can create one for all of us sports buffs. thanks

I would buy it without hesitation. Will also recommend it to all of my Android friends...about 40 of us in a few leagues that I'm in.

@bignoggins, i just checked the video of your app on the site, and it looks awesome. there is not a single app in the entire android market that can even come close...

really hoping that you can\will port it over :)

Thanks, I'm having good success with it on the App Store.

I doubt I can finish an Android port by the beginning of the football season, but I'll try as soon as I can. I'm currently working on adding ESPN support to the iPhone app before I start on the Android port. I'm not a full time developer, this is just my hobby. And I'm a fantasy buff with an Android phone myself so I feel your guys' pain. I developed for iPhone first because it was originally a class project for an iPhone class.

I'll keep you guys updated on progress. I may need beta testers if anyone is interested.

Hey guys.

I thought I would chime in here as well. We are almost done with our Android application for managing your ESPN and Yahoo! teams in one app (as well as watching live scores and some other amazing plugins). We anticipate a launch on august 30th with an update or two right before the fantasy football season.

If you guys have any questions or want to comment, please feel free. Our website is Free Fantasy Football Management Tools for ESPN and Yahoo! | HuddleHub.com and you can find us on twitter (@huddlehub).
