Need help convincing girl to get Android not Iphone

So my friend wants to get an Iphone this summer. I told her not to and that Android was so much better. Then after that a couple Apple fanboys came in to say it wasn't, but thats for another time. She said if I could find a phone that is same shape and looks somewhat like the Iphone and if I proved why it was better than the Iphone that she would think about. I was thinking the Incredible would be a good phone for her. She just thinks the Droid is to manly. So come on Android Forums list some reasons why the Android powered phones are better than Apple's Iphone

edit: I told her the rumor about Verizon getting the Iphone, so its Verizon phones.

I told her that Verizon was getting the Iphone. So verizon phones.

Show her small snippets of this phone from the video's in the link above. This is definetly a top 2 worthy phone when it comes out. (Only phone that may be better is the Evo)

If she is looking for something right now, yeah, cast my vote for Droid incrdible

If it's verizon only, then whats up with iphone? last i heard, iphone was not made for verizon. This will not happen until at least 2011. Plus, if she must get an iphone, might as well wait for the next version to come out first.

You can convince her to get the ERIS or the incredible for now.

They're great sources of information written for women, by women. Us girls are in the minority when it comes to the Android OS, so it's kind of nice to find sites focused on female users.

Letting her buy what she wants would be great. But then AT&T doesn't have a droid worth considering. So then we're talkin' about 2 different networks if I insist on an android phone.

I in fact want my wife to be happy with her phone. I'd like her to at least consider a droid, and then make her own mind up.

Her main and only need for a 'smart' type of phone is to have good and easy calendar synch with Google Calendars. Some time ago that led to get a phone with WinMo, and yes, that phone frustrates her. I want it easy for her.

Given that Google calendaring on an android phone is so seemless, I'm thinking that is a good route for her. But she needs something that performs well; and has easy intuitive ways to do the usual things, such as turn on blue tooth, and browse/use the calendar.

I quickly browsed the two forums above, and did not find an article about "Why a droid instead of iphone" type of article, or even "why a droid for the woman".

If anyone runs across that (woman focused article), please post a link here.

SenseUI is a more user-friendly and intuitive interface than stock Android (not implying that stock Android is difficult, just making a comparison)

I suppose if you're considering a Droid, take a look at the Incredible as well.

The truth of the matter is she needs to convince her self,had a friend that have a htc hero and still wanted a iphone only reason was because she like the look had no clue how good her phone is or better than the iphone, so let her go and enjoy what she wants and like,sometimes you have to go through the experience to see the light..

To the posters asking why try to sway her opinion, I think that if he is more knowledgeable than her when it comes to phones and knows her requirements, he can choose a better phone for her than she could. He is a consultant.

I don't think that is the case, I think he just wants company. However if all she cares about is how the phone looks, I don't see how he could do any harm. Unless this girl has already bought in to the SteveJobs system, in which case, the iPhone may be fine for her.

Hi. Your sites quoted are the ones I was referenceing that I checked out . Can't find any info about why they like their droid over iphone; nothing about it being easy to use, or specific apps for them. That being said, I have not exhaustively searched those sites. I expected an initial sticky about why they likre the androids (being s few women, according to recent articles, go to them).

I did post an inquiry. If I get interesting responses that are relative to the topic of this thread, I'll post back with a link to the the thread.

Let her get something simple like the iPhone; from my experience, most women either don't care about the newest thing, or are technologically innate to the point where they want everything to work with a big shiny button (my step mother). So in a sense, let her get something she's going to be able to use. This is true for most senior citizens as well... you give them a phone from today's era, they'll sit there mashing the screen for hours on end complaining it doesn't work.

Then again, we have no background on said female as far as technology usage. Is she a gamer? A coder? A geek? A prep?

Don't just assume that the iPhone is rubbish and Android is always better. For what she would use it for, the iPhone might be better suited to her needs. Make the smart decision, not just a default biased one.

The first thing I would do is show a personalized theme/wallpaper. You don't have to be a super linux hacker nerd to appreciate the fact that you can have a nice wallpaper on your desktop.

The only phone I would show her is the Droid Incredible if she is wanting something similar to an Iphone. Let's face it, the Droid Incredible is basically the same size as the Iphone. So that should be appealing enough to have her at least consider the phone. Most women don't care about specs as much as we do, the only specs they care about is probably the picture quality of the camera, how easy it is to text on it, and if they can play their songs on it. This is what my girl was looking for.

But the Iphone is nice eye candy so it's tough to steer a person away from it.

Think of it this way: who cares if the cpu says 1 ghz if it's slow? Who cares if the camera is 12 megapixels if the pictures it takes look like crud? You have to show what the phone can do for you and not just list a bunch of tech numbers on paper.
