Pie update

I got the update last weekend on at&t

my understanding is the unlocked phone version of software comes out last since it has to be reviewed by ALL the US carriers (makes sense, since you can use an unlocked phone on any carrier).
Actually the way it works with anyone else is that the unlocked version gets it first because it isn't reviewed and modified by any carrier. But Samsung USA are infamous for their unlocked versions getting it last (despite their having in the past marketed them as getting updates faster...). This is the first explanation I've heard for why this should be: it simultaneously both makes sense and contradicts what everyone else means by "unlocked" ;)

Samsung addressed this on their forums before when a question was asked for the S8. Basically they wait for the carriers to certify that the update works on their networks before pushing it because they don't want to push an update that breaks functionality on certain carriers.
Basically until carriers get around to certifying the unlocked update, Samsung won't release it.
