Help Disable standard Text msg programme?

I have installed Handcent for handling my SMS
Instructions advise turning off default, but cant see how on the Desire?

I am quite disappointed with the phone so far as it has too many niggles, the biggest being not able to auto answer calls, which makes it useless with my

Go in to the std message program and within its menu turn off notifications.
I know of no Android phone that will auto-answer over bluetooth.
