How can I organize Audio book files into sequential order? I originally tried 01, 02, -12. But after 08 or 09 the files only organize by title and the number is not shown. I have also tried letters A. B, ect and they do not show. I have tried 5 different players and all do this.

Sorry I can't really help with the problem as don't have the phone but can I say if you try a different file explorer please don't use ES file explorer. Maybe they've sorted their act out since I last used it but I wouldn't trust that one as far as I could throw it ;)
hmmmm never had any issue with es before. anyways there are plenty of file managers out there that you can use.

Maybe they have sorted themselves out then. Honestly I liked it but then all of a sudden they started spamming my lockscreen and popup notifications. I guess the mass exodus made them rethink their policies :)

Yes. I've used a file manager and all files show in order with chapter number and title. But then all the players I have used, including VLC and power amp, drop the chapter number either after the first 8 files or altogether. I have had some luck renaming every chapter to Chapter # with nothing else after it and it works most of the time.

I just noticed what my problem is and it is only happening in only 1 folder. File managers show the correct order and my names in that folder, but the players are organizing them by an embedded name that does not appear in the file manager. Anyway to get rid of the embedded name?
You can use an app called "AutomaTag Editor" which is basically an automatic tag editor (those embedded names are called tags). It's designed to work automatically, but you can use it manually too. It does the job in both ways pretty well.

However, you can try finding a setting in your music player like "sort by file name" (some may just say "sort by name", you'll have to try if it works) or something similar before you remove the tags. It might save your time.
