so i love my DINC. it is like my laptop now (my actual one broke). yes, the battery life blows, but whatever. i have two gripes:

1) for some weird reason my assigned ringtones seem not to be working. when i restart they work for a whille, and then BANG! they stop working. all i get is the default ringtone for everyone (which is custom). i tried changing the file directories (as suggested in another thread) and that fixed one problem (the ringtones not staying assigned) but still left this one. i don't know why this happens, so if anyone has any clue, please enlighten me.

2)what crap is going on with the conference/call waiting feature?!?!?! let me paint a picture.....you're talking on the phone with someone and beep, beep someone else is calling. you realize it will be a short chat so you tell the person to hang on while you get this other call. you pick up the other call and finish it in like 2 seconds, great. so now you can change back and forth between calls, but i, for the life of me, am unable to find a way to end just one of the calls. it seems that once you have two people on the line, even if they aren't able to talk to each other, they stay on the line until you end all the calls! the most ludicrous thing about that is that phones have been able to take, hold, and end multiple calls for years!!! WTF, mate?!?!

does anyone else have this problem? reading through here i noticed that i don't have many of the problems that are listed among the funfilled threads of this board, so i don't know if my problems are limited to myself or not.

[/rant]

I am having the same issue with the ringtones.Just unistalled my advanced task manager to see if that is the problem. If this doesn't fix it I am guessing it is another app causing this.I will post back if I figure it out.

i thought that this might be my problem as well. i use task manager, i'm going to not use it and see what happens.

PLEASE I AM LOOKING TO SOLVE THE SAME ISSUE. I think it's crazy that you can not end the call on call waiting. WTF.

If you pess the RED End button (one time only) while on the call you want to disconnect, it will appear as though you have hung up on BOTH calls, however the other line will ring your phone back in a few second and now you are back in business.

The caller on the other end does not notice this activity.

This is based on experience, but not any significant testing.

i think that i have noticed that before. thanks.

oh well. at least the two most annoying problems with my DINC are solved. reading this forum gives me the willies sometimes, cause there are a ton of things that people have going on with their phones that i don't.....and i don't want those problems either.

I found something off with the personalized ringtones as well today.

When my phone rebooted, it's almost as though the storage wasn't properly initialized, and it defaulted to some other ringtone. After rebooting a second time and letting the phone sit for a while, the ringtone was back as it should have been.

/boggle

there is a fix for this. i found on this forum someplace.

essentially i plugged my phone into the computer and set it as a drive. i created a folder labeled "ringtones" on the phone directory. i believe you can also use the SD card if you so choose. anyways, i moved all my ringtones into that folder and then re-assigned them to the contacts and changed my default ringtone and haven't had the disappearing problem again.

good luck.

Biohazdan, listen to this problem:

I have had problems with the call quality and voice volume on the Incredible, but these problems pale in comparison to the bluetooth problem I'm having. I have a 2009 F-150 Lariat with the SYNC system. My previous phone (LG 8100) worked fine with SYNC bluetooth. No problems at all. Then I get the Incredible. Oh boy. I drove about 3 hours for a work function. Everything was fine. Then on my way home, I noticed my rear camera (my truck has a camera in the back that shows where I am reversing. Very useful) didn't work. I thought that was weird, but kept going. Then I tried to use the A/C. Didn't work either. So I kept driving. Then I tried to clear the bugs off of my windshield. Windshield wipers didn't work. I can deal with the failure of the rear camera and A/C, but not the wipers. That's a serious problem. If I hit a thunderstorm or something, I would have been screwed. So I took the truck to Ford and they reset the computer. That was it. Then 2 weeks later, the sam thing happened. I called HTC and (of course) they said it was the truck, not the phone. I took it in to Ford again and 15 error codes came up. The technician said he's never seen anything like this before. He contacted the Ford engineers and they said the same thing. HTC ad Ford think the Incredible is causing the Ford computer to overwork and draw power from other parts of the truck (rear camera, A/C, and wipers). I find this completely unacceptable. This could be a huge liability concern and no one did a damn thing about it. So unfortunately, I had to return the phone on Thursday. Bummer, I really liked it, but it's not worth dying over.

If any Ford SYNC users are reading this, please be careful with this phone. If you are driving on the highway like I was, and your wipers fail, you'll be in a world of crap. I'm lucky it didn't rain. Since this incident, I have researched the bluetooth problem and have seen a bunch of complaints, but nothing like mine. It sounds like HTC put an old bluetooth stack in the phone. This stack is not compatible with a bunch of bluetooth tools and could overload them. Please be safe out there especially if you are connecting via bluetooth directly to your car. I am not certain if this is only a Ford SYNC problem. It could happen elsewhere. I am hoping to get another Incredible, but not until they fix this problem.

wow.............

another reason to buy Japanese.

there are some setbacks with this phone for sure. but the level of customizability and fun are unprecedented when compared to other smartphones. i had an iphone since they came out and, other than despising at&t with every fiber of my being, i didn't know what i was missing. i could never go back the cookie cutter dynamics of the iphone or some other smartphones. i haven't had many hiccups yet, and the ones i've had have been minor (knocking on wood now).

good luck with that.

Thanks Biohazdan. I'll you posted. Since returning my Incredible, everything has been fine with the truck. I have even connected my old phone to SYNC. Nothing as of yet. I will continue to monitor any updates that come to the Incredible that hopefully will fix an compatibility problems with the bluetooth. Since I don't have the phone anymore, if you se any updates, please let me know. I will check back with this thread. Thanks!
