Keep Legos together somehow

This one's really off topic. Imagine trying to help a kid make some of the models from that Lego Gadgets set by Klutz. Well, I must really be one because we couldn't do even the first thing, that claw. The little gray connector fit onto the long red beam fairly well, but then the blue piece with the bend wouldn't fit on the other side. I have no problem with the pictures, but the pieces are maybe not machined right. It must be even more frustrating for someone his age. Long story short, is there anyone on here who knows how to make Lego pieces stick together without cheating, e. g. no glue?

The generic legos are crap. I've helped my son build quite a few and ended up more frustrated by the inability of them to stick together properly than the less than clear instructions. I think the only solution it glue, sorry.

You're probably right. I would hate to do that, though, because then it would be almost impossible to take them apart and build another model. I guess we could just get more Legos (and more glue). What are generic Legos, anyway?

The patent on Lego's expired a few years ago, so now anyone can make "Lego compatible" blocks. Unfortunately, most of these are poor quality and don't fit well. Lego goes to extreme lengths to make sure each peg and hole are precise so the blocks accurately lock together. Third parties not so much.

My children grew up in the era of well built lego pieces. My only fault with them was they always seemed to get under foot. You might try a temporary glue such as this. I've not used it but it sounds like it might work for you.

hmmmm yeah i remember back in the day my legos were well made. for me my issue was trying to take them apart to build something else.i remember getting into my dad's tools for some pliers to try and pry them apart. that's very sad to know that they are lesser quality then before. i would hate to use glue on my legos.

Side note: I found that the best place for my tv aerial in my bedroom was right above my TV and Blue Tack has stuck that there for 5 years so I'm sure it could hold some Lego blocks together

Who are Klutz?
Surely "real Legos" are those made by the Lego corporation - anything by anyone else is by definition a copy?

Klutz Press is I think their full name or pretty close. I believe they're based in California. They provide books and kits concerning Legos, jewelry, and many other things.
