Hello, I have bought brand new homtom ht16 smartphone, it runs on android 6. when it is on a standby mode battery keeps well (it only drops by no more than 20% during the 24h), but when the cellphone is awake (even if Im not using any software or programs) the battery is dropping down by 1% every single minute. literally. what could be the problem?

“brand new" with Android 6? Is it new old stock(NOS) or something? Now I expect either Android 8 or 9 on new phones and tablets.

Its having battery drain like that on a supposedly new device, could be it's faulty? Have you tried resetting it? Suggest you return it for replacement or refund. Homtom phones been cheapo, they often do have quality and reliability issues.

The HomTom HT16 is apparently a three year old model.

If it was new and out of the box when you got it, that means it has probably been sitting untouched in some storage bin for quite a while. The odds are the battery just can't hold a charge they way it should anymore. Even if the phone was in use the entire time, a three year old battery is going to age. A smartphone battery left as is should be charged up at least annually or it will age even faster.
It appear to have a user-replaceable battery so you might want to try and buy a new one. Just keep in mind this isn't a mainstream model so any batteries you do buy, even new, will most likely be dated as well. (There's no financial benefit for battery manufacturers to continue making batteries for phones that aren't as popular).
Or an alternative is to pick up an external battery to keep with you when you're out and plugging your phone in to charge itself isn't convenient. But considering the cost of this phone I don't know how much money you want to spend on it buying accessories to keep it running.
