Help Sleep app for incredible

hey guys I'm looking for an app that puts the phone to sleep. Ideally it would be a shortcut I could just press and the phone would sleep. Anyone know of such an app?

Actually, that's not entirely true. Some programs such as Facebook for HTC Sense or even the HTC Calendar are preventing the Inc from sleeping. To test this turn your phone off then back on again and press the sleep button. Leave it alone for about 5 minutes then check the Up time/ Awake time, if they are the same then your phone is not sleeping.

I am looking for this too....and would pay for an app that simply does what the hardware button on top does but with an icon.

Also looking for an application that is similiar to BlackBerry contact alerts. No matter what the profile is, if I get an email from a specific contact then play "x" notification. I see some that will handle SMS, or phone calls but I am looking for email.

It's possible the OP prefers not to use the hardware button to put it to sleep. Somewhere around here is a very large thread discussing problems with that button becoming recessed (sinking) into the phone.

Anyway, I can't help you with the program but I do see a legitimate need for it.

For the recessed power button, just take off the battery cover, take a knife and pop it back up

Yes I simply want to reduce wear on the power button and it would be convenient to have on the homescreen.

True, maybe Red Leader is just looking for something to turn the display off rather than actually putting the phone to "sleep"

My BB Storm had a nice feature that I liked. I could put it to sleep at night (ie radio off etc) and yet it would still "wake up" in order to set off my alarm at the appropriate time. Really miss this feature on the DINC. Guess no phone is 100% perfect. An app could do this for us...I will scour the Marketplace.

My phone sleeps just fine with those running.

As for the OP, I have been searching for a shortcut to put the phone to sleep from the screen, but there does not seem to be one.

I have somewhat gotten used to the using the power button, but it's very awkward to hit that button 300 times a day. As a longb time bb user, I am used to operating the phone with one hand 99% of the time and the Inc is a bit clumsy in this respect.

+1 for Profile. should be part of the BB detox plan.

Timeriffic is free. Also check out autotask for calendar based profile changes like a meeting mode.

These phones don't "sleep" the top button simply turns off the screen to simply save the battery from the biggest killer. Do you use Facebook i.e. signed in? If so then the program has to constantly be on to check for updates these programs can't just turn themselves on because simply noting that I know of can turn itself on from a true off state.

I haven't had any battery issues with the HTC FB or facebook pro apps. If you are just trying to turn the screen off, go to Settings>Sound & display>Screen timeout and set it to 15 seconds.

Stop spreading BS

I have Mobile Data Always On, and my phone status is like 12 hours on, 2.5 hours awake.
The phone also DOES sleep while plugged in. Restart it, plug it in, and go to sleep. In the AM the two up times will be different, unless you have an app running that it causing it not to sleep.

My phone wakes up and the alarm goes off just fine. I've been meaning to test it, but my BB Pearl would actually power up if it was powered off and the alarm would go off if you turned it off (to save battery for example).

Sleep seems to be a term used for multiple functions in the Android world (LOL).

The setting in dev mode "appears" to only effect the screen being on or off, correct?

I am not concerned with what the uptime/wake time counters read. I am trying to solve the "mystery" of what happens when the phone sleeps.

Shut the screen off and at some point (20mins?) the phone goes into a "sleep-type-mode"

With "mobile data always on" not enabled, when the phone "sleeps" the email syncing is paused. With it enabled, the syncing continues? correct?

But, with the phone plugged in does this process change?

I have been trying to nail the effect of the "always on" setting in relation to PUSHED email and have found, predictably, that with it turned off, if during the day the phone is idle for a period of time (~30 min) then the PUSH will not happen. Last night I ran into a anomaly when I received a PUSHED email at 4am (when the phone had been idle for several hours). The phone was not sleeping (obviously) , but was it due to being plugged in or was it something else keeping it awake.

If I can eliminate the posit of the phone being plugged in preventing sleep, it will reduce the variable by one.

Well, Sleep would be opposite of Wake right? Are we talking about Screen Off as not being sleep? Hibernate to me is more like off.

What stops functioning when the phone is hibernating?
