Hi,

Last January I was able to track the movements of my android phone on a google maps page.
the map would draw an itinerary of my phone, throughout the day.

It was super handy, the map would show where the thieve went during the day.
Police looked at different CCTV footage and quickly find the the guy who stole my phone.

Today, I'm trying to look at the same information but the (google?) map no longer show the movements. It only show the current location.
(Location services are turned on)

Has anyone maybe a link to share or has Google terminated that feature?

My timeline works as well, but this is different. I'm looking device tracking.
There used to be this page where you select your android device and then you see its movements on google maps.
I'm seeing what I think you're talking about! :)

From Google Maps, select its menu (three bars, top left corner), then choose "Your Timeline." In the top right corner, between the pencil and three-dots icon, there's a calendar icon; select it. Now you can choose a date and see solid blue lines tracing your device's location throughout that day. At least I do!

Hi,
I see the blue lines. they track my movements. The problem is that I can't choose the device.
The blue lines I see refer to my current phone. I want the blue lines on a given date for my previous phone, which was stolen.
And selecting that date yielded...what?

Were you using two phones when one was stolen? If not, there would be no need to choose a device, because the activity for that date would only show the stolen phone.

(Hold on...)

I just checked both of my phones on a date where I knew I'd gone somewhere, leaving one phone at home and taking one with me. Their displays for that date are identical. I don't know what their displays would look like if they'd gone on different routes on a certain date.

But if you only had one phone, the stolen one, looking at its info for the date it was stolen will tell you where it went.

I checked the day the phone was stolen. Google Timeline shows the movement of the phone before and after I lost it. the person took it way out of town. Then it was turned off or the battery died. While my phone pinging miles away from my home and I was actively using Google Maps at home, Timeline got a bit confused. As a matter of fact, it asked me to confirm multiple times if I was at home that afternoon.

I believe there is no way to track individual devices. Timeline receives location from several devices, merge them on the Timeline and tries to make sense of it.

On my new phone I'm tempted to install a proper tracking tool like Cerberus

Thank you for your time helping me!
