Extract the unextractable files

Recently I downloaded a package of files but I cannot extract them. It says that already exists. I apparently could replace or rename them. I did try the latter option which took me back to square one. I'm using My Files. Should I switch to X-plore or use something else?

What did you download? You said a 'package of files'--but what kind of files?

I'm using My Files. Should I switch to X-plore or use something else?

Changing the tool you use to see your files won't change your files' locations. When you try to extract something and it says the files already exist, they're really there, and changing file managers won't change that.

How are you extracting them? Does it give you a choice of where to put the extracted files? If so, choose a different destination directory and extract them there. Or move the archive file to a different directory and extract it there.

But then what? What are you supposed to do with the extracted files?

That's a lotta questions. Square one is the same choices, rename or replace. I'm pretty sure they're all or mostly documents, maybe pdfs. It doesn't show where they would be extracted and as far as I know I have no choice in the matter. I suppose once I found them (if I did) I would read them.

Okay, that means the files definitely were extracted--so you're now at square two.

They may have been extracted in the same directory the archive file is in. Have you looked through that directory?

I suppose once I found them (if I did) I would read them.

If you want to share where/what you downloaded, I'll step through it and then tell you where to find the files!

Otherwise, just use your file manager to look for them; they're probably where the archive is. Alternately, try extracting again, and when you're prompted to replace/rename, make note of that file's name, then you can search for it. Once you find one, you should find them all.

Ok, I finally found them with X-plore. They were under downloads. Now how do I move them to sd? I see how to copy by "sharing" (the three dots with connecting lines) but when I created a folder for them it said that I should use "high level storage". What does that mean and how do I do that?
