$100 for 10TB storage for life! Are they serious?

I don't know about "too good": I'm with Andy in seeing it as a risk.

I know nothing about this company, but cloud storage companies have gone bust or ceased operation before now, in which case the best you can hope for is that they'll give enough notice that you can download your stuff before it's lost. I'll guarantee their T&C's accept no responsibility on their part if the data are lost. But that's not a comment on them, it applies to any cloud storage company: use them for convenience if you like, but if it's important always have a backup of your own too.

So realistically I would not assume that this is 10TB "for life". I think the realistic question to ask is how much storage for how long would you need to justify the $100 cost, and then make a judgement about how likely you are to get what you consider value for this.

Yes but Dropbox only gives you 25GB for free at max. I've read that Degoo gives you 100GB totally free just for becoming member.

So what's their business model? Maintaining that storage is an ongoing cost. You can use free storage as a loss leader and maintain the business in the short term if enough people sign up for the paid version, but even with that "storage for life" gets you a one-off income but leaves ongoing costs, so it's only sustainable in the long term if you have constant growth (which is impossible).

So where is the rest of their income coming from? That question is relevant both for the longevity of the service and for your privacy (the usual way tech companies provide "free" services being to monetise you).

I have a paid, 1TB DropBox account.

I've read that Degoo gives you 100GB totally free just for becoming member.

Without a Linux client, that's of no use to me. Besides, I don't want or need that little additional storage space.

I agree but $100 is a good deal but its scetchy since its OG price is $899.99 and i bet theirs a a time period you only have to pay $100 before if charges you $900.00

^ 10tb is originally $3600 with a 97% discount. They're not giving that much away if they're not going to screw you over later. Stay well clear

Which is wild fantasy. Their business, service and storage could be wild fantasy as well, and all your cloud storage data dissappears in a puff of logic.
