I'm Confused, I need som help / Explaination

Ok so, I did a flash to the 2.1 v3 leak. I didn't get OTA. I don't mind, I kind of would prefer it but w/e. SO... I want to try to root or put 2.2 when it comes out. However from what I read since I did 2.1 v3 leak I am screwed and stuck with this. It is not even recommended to revert to stock 1.5. Is this true, am I stuck... was I an idot

Yes you are stuck, you cannot update to the "official" update, even though that's what v3 is. You cannot go back down to 1.5 either. Hopefully a nice Dev will come around and allow us leakers to root, but for now we're stuck.

I am confused as to why we cannot go back to 1.5. I mean it is a phone with an OS. Can't we just wipe it and install a new OS.
