A little bragging!

Not personal bragging, but about my city: Arcadia USD has been named to the California Honor Roll for the second year in a row. :D

"For the second consecutive year, Arcadia Unified was named to the 2018 – 2019 Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll for its high achievement in student success. There are over 900 school districts in California, and Arcadia Unified is one of only 26 public school districts to receive this recognition.
<<snip>>
Each of Arcadia Unified’s six elementary schools, three middle schools, and high school were also individually named as ERP Honor Roll schools.
<<snip>>
In addition to this ERP Honor Roll recognition, Arcadia Unified achieved a rare feat of being named to the prestigious AP® District Honor Roll in consecutive years for 2017 and 2018. Likewise, Arcadia Unified was recently ranked by Niche.com as the District with the Best Teachers and the Best Place to Teach and landed in the top three best school districts in Los Angeles County. For more information about the Arcadia Unified School District, visit ausd.net, and for more information about the ERP Honor Roll, visit edresults.org."

I'm not sure about our current college matriculation statistics, but they typically run at ≈95% of our high school graduates.

I'm proud and just wanted to brag a little.

huh.....i thought arcadia was only known for its mall and peacocks......who knew!!!!!
You're forgetting its awesome and famous Arboretum, where everything from Oscar-winning movies, like The African Queen, to TV shows, like Fantasy Island, were filmed.

You're also forgetting its now-infamous Santa Anita Park Racetrack. The bad news is all those horses who've died recently. :( The good news is that they served as a catalyst for statewide changes in horse racing, which experts are saying will become the norm throughout the country. With the Breeders' Cup coming up soon, the global spotlight will again be on my little city. We'll see how that goes.

It must be nice to live in an city that's all millionaires and movie stars, like Arcadia.
It didn't appeal to me much in my youth, but now I appreciate its many pluses, like its excellent public school system, and feel blessed to be able to live here.

i did not know that arcadia is in the top 10 with the most asians. i can see chinatown and even the city of walnut.
The influx of Asians--who covet our schools and lifestyle--has caused our property values to increase even more than they would have anyway. I finally put an end to phone calls from Asian Realtors wanting to buy my house--I mean, property--for their clients overseas. (They buy a perfectly nice house, tear it down, and put up a ridiculously oversized [for the lot] McMansion.) I told them that not only will *I* never sell, but I've stipulated in my trust that my heirs cannot sell it, it must be handed down. So there!
i guess i do not spend much time in arcadia. i drive thru it lots of times. i have been to the mall a few times.

i do want to go to the arboretum in arcadia.
The arboretum is awesome! You'll enjoy your visit, I'm sure. As you're driving south on Baldwin (from Foothill or Colorado Blvd or the 210), the arboretum will be on your right, the mall on your left. There's a big 'overflow' parking lot just past its entrance where the arboretum has film crews park. It's very common to see film crews there, so you might get lucky and visit on a day when there's filming going on! :D

That is very impressive Moody dear. I have read the wikipedia,
I hadn't, for a long time! I did not know about this ranking:

"In 2016, Arcadia was ranked the 5th most expensive housing market in the United States by Business Insider, with an average list of $1,748,680 for a four-bedroom home.[9]"
I have seen Seabiscut once. Need to rewatch half of the stuff I am a fan of though. Eh memory is tricky.
There are so many movies I keep meaning to watch or rewatch, but somehow never get around to it. *shrug* So, yeah, I get it!

Because of the risks of been shot?
Um...okay...?
Mind me asking @MoodyBlues how many guns to you you own.
I don't mind: zero. Why do you ask?

I used to enjoy shooting [at targets, not animals] with an old boyfriend, but haven't shot a gun in decades. And now, with both my best friend and brother having died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head, I'm not too keen on having a gun.

This came in the mail; it shows what I consider really amazing facts about about our school system.

Sorry if my pride/bragging bothers anyone. With all the terrible things we see and read about regarding public education, kids, dropouts, crime, etc., it makes me happy to counter that with really good news.
