Usb Drivers for Mac

Hi guys,
I am seeking usb drivers to connect my Samsung Tab A sm-t510 to my macbook. Please don't suggest the Samsung drivers they are for Windows only, and Kies/Smart Switch are just so much shite (constantly crashing). Are there any generic usb driver out there that would serve the purpose?

You don't install device drivers for Mac the way you do for Windows. The app knows how to talk to the hardware.

Install Google's Android File Transfer app on the Mac, unlock the tablet screen, connect to the Mac via USB, and you can then use the Finder to copy stuff to/from the AFT window (i.e. to/from the android device).

For ADB or fastboot (if you don't know what those are you don't need them) just install the binary, no driver needed.

If you've just installed it it should be the latest version (the previous one was getting very flaky, and used to do that a lot). "Latest" is 2017 by the way, unless they've brought out an update in the last couple of months. I'm using version 1.0.12, which has worked for me with Android 8, 9 and 10 (beta).

You should make sure the usb connection mode is file transfer (or MTP, depending on what your device calls it), but that should give a slightly different message. You could try a different cable - I've often found microusb in particular to be fussy. MacOS compatibility shouldn't be an issue unless your Mac is really old (AFT requires 10.7 or later, so if you are still using Snow Leopard that could be a problem but otherwise it shouldn't be that).

If you're connecting your Tab to your MacBook through a USB hub, or something similar with a USB pass-through, or something like a Thunderbolt-to-USB adapter, try plugging your Tab directly into one of your laptop's USB ports.

Installed from android.com, so am assuming it's latest version. Have tried with various USB cables with same result. The tablet has a usb C connection if that makes a difference (don't see why it should) and am connecting direct to USB port. OS is 10.14.6 so that should not be a problem. Done all of the normal troubleshoot techniques, reboot devices etc etc and still no joy - just can't figure it out.

Well given applications like Smart Switch are 'constantly crashing' that's an indication there could be something that needs to be addressed on your MacBook, aside from this issue it can't successfully detect and mount your Tab. Are there other issues that aren't working properly that might indicate what could be the problem?

There are no other issues at all. Not sure this is the case as both Kies and Smart Switch constantly crash on my iMac also. Will try both on my partners MacBook and see if there's any difference, but that's for tomorrow now.

OK, so I tried it with another device this morning and it works fine. So, the problem must be with the device I am trying to connect (Samsung Tab A 10.1) and it doesn't like usb to USB c cables. One thought that crosses my mind (if it can be called a mind) is that it might be possible wirelessly with something like AirDroid.
