I helped my son mow his lawn today because his mower is in the shop. He graced me with a new beer to me for my efforts. KC Bier Co Munich-style brown lager dunkel. It is very much in the camp of dark Shiner Bock but with a dunkel finish. Quite tasty.

yep.....Wellers is a hard bottle to find here in LA. i am lucky enough to own three bottles.....well more like 2 and 1/2 bottles.....LOL

I wonder why it's difficult to find in LA? It's readily available here in Kansas. My father always bought his Wellers by the case and most often from Oklahoma. He and my mother were both Oakies and we traveled there often to visit family. Buying in Ok had nothing to do with the fact it was cheaper and their state liquor tax was less than Ks

Maybe it's a regional thing with Wellers. I remember as a kid that Coors was not sold in Ok. but available in Ks. My uncles relied on my father for a Coors fix for they thought it was the best beer brewed.

i do not know.....very good question. all i know is that i found Wellers at Total Wine & More in Pasadena. i have not found Wellers any place else. i was also lucky enough to have a bottle of the special reserve as well as their antique 107

have not tried them yet.....i guess i'm waiting til the regular Wellers is all gone before i crack these puppies open.

I always thought Wellers was smooth as silk. I was more of a Jack Daniel black label sort of guy. It was just a little more lively. I switched to beer a few decades ago and have never gone back. I went though a spell of drinking dark rum. Rum, ginger ale, and a slice of lime is a clean refreshing drink. Ron Rico dark Jamaican and I were very good friends. I got into bloody Marys for a while too. Spicy hot with a stick of crisp celery was my preference. Smirnoff vodka worked just fine. Hard to beat Jack and water though. Nowadays it's Shiner Bock for me. I like both their regular and their dark. I try this and that now and then but Shiner is my go to.

I have yet to find a bottle of Wellers in my little piece of NY, it's just not here. It's the one bourbon I really, really want to try but just can't unless I go on a big adventure to I don't even know where. Le sigh. Guess I'll just stick with my Maker's 46 because yum!

anyways here is what i just bought and currently drinking:
teeling irish single grain whiskey.

it is so good. it does not taste like irish whiskey, but more like bourbon which i love. it is barrel in aged in california cab wine casks.

it is soooooooo delicious.

Among the goodies were three little bottles of hard liquor and two of them survived the shipment. One bottle broke in transit and the U S Postal service took offense to shipping the booze across state lines. They weren't thrilled it was shipped from one minor to another either. They ultimately did not prosecute but they scared the hell out of two kids. Shipping liquor is pretty risky.

i've sent many bottles of wine to friends outside of california. you just need to know how to wrap them and find the appropriate box to deliver them in.

I suspect it's all about proper wrapping and gentle shipping. The post office ripped open my box and scattered the contents to the four winds. I have no idea how well it was packed or how much damage the box suffered prior to reaching Kansas. All I know is they weren't happy lol. They did give me all of the contents less the three airplane size bottles of booze. It is a federal law that prohibits the shipping of liquor. I have no idea the consequences of breaking that law.

this is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!! its an irish style porter with hints of dark chocolate and coconut. drinking it with my rocky patel edge toro cigar......soooooooooooooooo good!!!!

i found this fascinating:

basically it explains why when you get a glass of wine you see the ripples and tears coming down. it was taught to me, but never explained that if you see the tears in the glass, then the wine you are drinking is of high quality.

now we know that it is of high alcohol content.

my new favorite bourbon

Heritage. it is finished in vanilla extract barrels. it is soooooo good. it is very smooth and just a hint of sweetness from the vanilla with some great toasty caramel notes.

Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

Tastes like black licorice on fire.

Have had wines from around the world, but didn't keep track. It's hard to keep track of things when drinking.
