But I have been using my phone...

I have a Samsung Galaxy J4 and it has really been giving me problems. My biggest concern at this point, is I've had developer options enabled for a while and this has never changed.... When I go into background check, most of my primary apps like phone, messaging, Facebook, device care, etc., Which I use daily show May 2nd or April 16. Other apps that I also use daily, show second, minutes, or hours ago. What would cause this??

I have a Samsung Galaxy J4 and I have developer options enabled. While going to background check, so many of my primary apps, like phone, messages, Facebook, device care, settings, etc. Show dates of May 2nd or April 16th. These are apps I use daily. And other apps show second, minutes or hours ago. I've never seen this before. Please help. I'm also getting so many wrong calls, or calls saying they've missed a call from me, my phone is also loosing battery power and apps are always closing and crashing. I downloaded this one tonight and had to open it 5 times to get to this point.

Since I enabled developer options, I have not disabled them. The background check shows you all apps running in background so you chose to stop them or not. It Allows you to remove the hidden'run in background' and 'prevent phone from sleeping' permissions from user and system apps. I have been having a lot of problems lately like running slow, pages not loading, 30+ calls a week for 3 categories that do not apply to me, error messages, people calling stating they've received a call from me and are returning it(I have not called anyone) strange noises while on the phone, keyboard typing it own words sometimes and for the last 4-5 days, everyone is complaining that's they're trying to get ahold of me and are unable to. So while going through normal processes to clean phone up, etc. I noticed the conflicting dates a and I'm curious that the reasoning is for them.

Firstly, just use a browser for this forum, it's better than the app.

As I said in answer to your other thread, I don't know what "background check" is (and I've been using Android for a decade). Is this a Samsung thing or something you've installed? Are you certain you've understood what it does correctly? Does it matter at all if it doesn't work?

Misdialled numbers are not uncommon, but if you are getting a lot it might be that some phone spammer is spoofing your number (i.e. they make spam calls but make them look like they come from someone else). It's really hard to tell, but maybe if you answer one of these you can ask the caller for more information (tell them that you never called them but are getting a lot of calls like this and would like to figure out what's going on).

Loosing power, apps closing and crashing, unfortunately none of that is terribly specific. A rogue app running in the background can use power, but so can poor signal reception, battery ageing - just that alone doesn't identify the cause. Have you tried restarting, clearing space on the phone, going into recovery mode and clearing the system cache? I suggest booting into safe mode for a while and seeing what happens then (this disables all user-installed apps, so if you still have problems it's either the phone hardware or the system itself rather than something you've installed). Worst case, back everything up, factory reset, only reinstall stuff you actually need, and see how that goes. It's a pain, which is why that would be my last resort, but it may be needed.

Is this "background check" a Samsung utility or something you've installed yourself? Never having heard of it I don't know how trustworthy it is.

I've had a go at some of these questions in one of your other threads, but there are new things here. Keyboard typing it's own words could be a touchscreen issue, but I'd check your Google account for any activity you don't recognise as a precaution (you do have 2-factor authentication enabled, right? If not, do so). People not being able to get through to you might mean you have a problem with your cellular connection (which could explain power drain too), or possibly your SIM (they do fail, though usually you'll spot this as it will be obvious you are off network). To be honest this "dates" thing bothers me the least.

While going to background check
Please tell us what this 'background check' is--is it a system setting, a developers option, an app you installed, or what? How do you get to it?

Depending on how/where you're seeing these, they may be of no concern. Linux (which includes Android) timestamps directories in different ways based on different criteria. So some of these, like April 16th, may simply be the date that app was installed and its main directory created. The others, with current timestamps, may be reflecting the last time the app was accessed. Again, we need to know how and where you're seeing these to really be able to help.

At first when you mentioned about a lot phone calls not coming through..was going to suggest that's a carrier calls forward issue..but then there's in the picture also keyboard typing on it's own..sincerely came to my mind sounds like some African spammer controlling your phone..I went through the same experience and that's the symptom..

But let's see what other suggestions work for you.

A Samsung Galaxy S7 I've got here, it doesn't have that Background Check in Developer Options. And quite frankly I've never seen it on any Android device I've had. Are you using a custom ROM or something on your Samsung phone?

Like @mikedt, I've never seen this either. Here's a screenshot from my current device's Developer Options:

You can see that, like yours, it has an entry for 'background process limit.' But, unlike yours, there's nothing for 'background check.'

But to get back to your original issue, it's the dates you're seeing that are bothering you, correct? Did you read my previous reply about timestamps? That's what it looks like to me--which means there's no problem.

To be honest I do not know. I really don't think so. But as I'm reaching out with this stuff a lot of people are saying the same thing so now I don't know exactly what's going on and I'm a little more freaked out.

Yes I did and that made me feel a little better however now I'm a little more concerned because your screenshot doesn't show anything like mine so why does mine have it and no one else's?

Okay, that's good, because I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Correction: no one who's popped in on this conversation. :)

There are a million reasons your options can be different from mine. If you look through any threads at random, where people have compared screenshots of various things, you'll find that they're almost never identical. The manufacturer, the specific device, the carrier, the Android version...lots of things can cause differences.

If you're still worried--and I don't think you should be--please post a few screenshots of these timestamps, and let us have a look at them.
