Hello,

When I put my Samsung Note 8 to silent mode and when I play any videos in browser/youtube/facebook, the video (media volume) would still have sound.

I want to maintain in silent mode all the time and I want to the media volume to default to 0 (mute) every time when a new video started playing (I may manually increase the media volume after a video starts playing).

How can I do that?

Thanks

(By default, if I put my phone to silent mode, only the ringing is changed to vibration and any video played will still have sound.)

how are you putting the phone in silent mode? just thru the notification bar? if so, then that is for the ringtone only. you have to go into settings to turn down media volume.

The silent mode through notification bar, I do understand that is for ringtone only, that is why I am asking how to AUTOMATIC lower the media volume.

To simplify, I want my phone to have no sound when incoming call/sms and no sound during starting of playing video/media unless I manually increase the media volume.

AFAIK silent mode is really to mute unexpected sounds, like ringtones, message received tones, and other app notifications. But it doesn't mute media audio by default. You may want to keep the phone quite and prevent it unexpectedly ringing and beeping in a meeting or something, but on the other hand things like YouTube, Facebook videos, don't suddenly play unexpectedly .

Perhaps it could be done with something like Tasker? Which is intended to automate actions and things on an Android devices.
