cleaner app caused boot loop?

hey guys i have a mpto e5 supra and i fhink i had a cleaning app that caused a boot loop, i also have another phone with the same App that was boptlooping, but that phone was Able to Activate safe mode, once it loaded up it said something like clean master has stopped, so i uninstalled it and then everything was fine, now this bootloop was activated by plugging in my phones, i also im not sure if i was using power clean or clean master, also this problem happened in pretty together, one phone bootlopped last night and the moro bootlooped today, now as for my moto i had to reset it because i couldn't get into safe.mode,now if one of apps is causing a boot loop it could very well perminatly break ppls phones, id really like to know how to activate safe mode from either fastboot or boorloader, or from the boot animations, i saw some Google pages that said hold down during boot animations but that didn't work, in advance thank you to everyone who looks into this and trys to help

Most "cleaning apps" are junk, pure and simple. And I'd especially avoid "Clean Master" or anything else from Cheetah Mobile: they barely bother to hide the fact that they make their money by stealing data from their users' devices and selling it to spammers, and have frequently resorted to dodgy advertising companies to download their software onto devices that visit certain websites without even asking the owner's permission. Scummy company who should be avoided at all costs.

OK, now I've got that off my chest...

If you feel you need a cleaner app I'd suggest SD Maid. But use with care and always check what it's suggesting you can delete and think about it before going ahead: the app will be using simple rules to identify stuff that it thinks you don't need, and it may propose to delete stuff you don't want it to. Personally I don't use one at all, but SD Maid has the merit that it doesn't include any other junk like "RAM boosters", "Battery boosters", "performance optimisers" or any of the other euphemisms for task killers (none of which are needed or useful).

That said, these apps shouldn't be able to permanently break your phone, since unless you have root they should not be able to do anything that can't be undone by a factory reset.

On to the actual question: once it's in the boot animation you can do nothing at all except force the phone to shut down or restart. Unfortunately you can't use fastboot to reboot into safe mode either. There is a hack that can be done using ADB (USB debugging), but unless you have a custom recovery you need to be booted into Android to use ADB, so that won't help you. Your only real option is to reboot the phone and then hold down whichever button combination gives you safe mode. However, if you are in an actual bootloop I doubt that will work: the usual cause for a bootloop on an unrooted phone is that some data have been corrupted to the point where the phone cannot boot, and disabling user-installed apps (which is all that safe mode does) won't help with that. So basically if the button combination for safe mode won't work you probably have no choice but to reset (either through recovery or fastboot). The best I can do is suggest trying wiping the system cache before going all the way to a reset, but I think you'd be lucky if that works.

i was able to hold power plus vol down to get to fast boot, then recover then push vol up plus power to get to recovery then reset, that was the only thing i could get to work, that would be pretty bad of a app could causs thay, i did Ema the apps creator to ask them if they could check their app for bugs and explained the situation

Cheetah Mobile are the company who develop Clean Master, as well as many other android apps (some they developed themselves, others they have bought from other developers). Their business model is to offer free apps and then mine their users' phones for data they can sell. There have been many privacy scandals around them, and they've also used unethical means to distribute their apps in the past. Many of their apps have "CM" in the name somewhere, but by no means all.

See the first paragraph of my earlier post. There are no circumstances in which I would allow any app from that company on my phone.

(And that's before we get into the fact that most of what Clean Master and its ilk do is actually bad for your phone's performance. Task Killing is something that had a place in Android 1.5 or 1.6, but nothing later than that. But these apps persist, and like to spam their users with fake information designed to make them think they are improving your phone's performance, when in fact the best thing you can do is get rid of them and let the OS optimise itself).

That's a very obvious indicator to stop using that 'cleaner' app, and as others have referred to, you do need to be much more selective if you want to use any of them. My personal opinion is to avoid them completely, but getting back to your original query given the state of your Moto E5 Supra, a bootloop might be fixed by doing a Factory Reset (if you can start up your phone to get to that point) but is probably going to require you to flash a stock ROM. The bootloop is a matter of the Android OS being corrupted in some way that prevents it from getting loaded up during the boot process, A Factory Reset only pertains to the data partition, it doesn't have any direct effect on the installed OS itself. Flashing the ROM replaces the existing OS with a new, clean one.

I don't know. They 'cheat a mobile' device user? But Cheetah Mobile, as others have said, is a piece-of-shit company whose apps should not be installed on any device you care about.

At least make sure you have good backups first if you really feel the need to install one of their apps.

And in case Hadron hasn't made it perfectly clear, Android does not need, or benefit from, 'cleaning' or 'optimizing' apps. There's nothing [good] they can do that you can't do yourself with built-in tools. If you need info on that, just ask!
