Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

ok so i'm a little pissed and very frustrated.....this seems like a good place to unload.

so i just bought the new note 10+. i switched to verizon on the notion that i would get a trade in value of $450. it turns out that there is a caveat to this whole thing. so when i bought the note 8 a couple of years ago, i bought under the assumption that it was being financed for 2 years and not leased. somehow it was leased....i never bothered to check. i was told this when i went in to pre-order my note 10+. i was then told that i still owe $250 dollars to sprint for the phone. i was ALSO told that i could pay that off when they send me the bill.....later on.

i have been extremely busy and either did not have the time or just too tired to deal with it. now that it is the weekend i wanted to get this part over with so that i can move on and enjoy my new phone.......nope this is not what i had plannned

so last night verizon's server was down......so i waited in the morning to go online and get this credit i am owed. after finally being able to register my acct (i had an issue with my pin, support was closed over the phone, and so i had to go in on a friday night to change my pin. they then told me that they can do the trade in in the store........nope i came back this morning to find out that i since i bought the phone at Best Buy I have to deal with them and not verizon. the folks at Best Buy told me that i have to do this online.....SHEEEEESH.......so i go home and went on to the website and was able to login , since the verizon folks fixed my pin) online, i get this message that my phone is not eligible for trade in!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i hop into my car and head out to best buy........they look and they told me that i have to pay off what i owe to sprint. so i go to a sprint kiosk that is in the mall and they told me that they can only charge for the monthly bill and not what i owe on the phone and that i had to go to a corporate store to do this......WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i head on to my local sprint store.......i did pay off my monthly bill owe them, however they could not charge me for the rest of what i owe for the phone......what??????????/why not????????????

they said i have to wait and that i should be able to accomplish this sometime later in the following week.

man what an ordeal it has been just to switch to verizon from sprint and to get my credit owed to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

is switching carriers always this difficult???????????????????????????

<< major snippage of awful runaround >>

is switching carriers always this difficult???????????????????????????
If it is, it shouldn't be! Good grief, what a ridiculous runaround.

The only switching I've ever done was documented in one of my threads. After being with AT&T since the last millennium, early this year I switched to Consumer Cellular (same device). It was easy as can be. I'm sorry you're dealing with the opposite.

yeah....runaround that is a good word for what i just experienced that last two days.......though verizon was able to get my pin issue fixed, they were pretty cold when they found out i bought the phone from Best Buy and not thru them....hopefully this coldness will turn to warmth if i do end up staying with them....it is not a great start to this relationship!!!!!

Currently the state of Arizona. So I am heading to Arizona from California, I get a call from dispatch, asking if I can relay my load in Phoenix and take one to Yuma Arizona.
I'm like sure no problem after all I am going to Phoenix I will drop off my current load at the yard and a day driver will finish the delivery (I will still get paid for what I drove)
So I get to the yard get park and check my messages for information on the load
I know it's going to Yuma Arizona.
I don't know what trailer.
I call dispatch
I get after hours on a Sunday afternoon I am instructed to leave a messageo_O
So since I am not going anywhere I go grab a shower and a bite to eat, then I get some sleep.
At 7am I am up and moving. I know I am going to Yuma plus another load going back to California.
If things go right I can drop in Yuma , and get rolling to California probably make it to the border by the end of my drive shift
Then the text message started coming in
Hurry up and get the load
You need to start rolling
Have you hook up to the trailer
How soon before you leave?
I send a text back I need the trailer number
I get it
I spent 10 minutes driving around looking for it can't find it
Then I remembered seeing several trailers parked by this warehouse
Sure enough I find the trailer:D
It's being held up by support beamso_O
I bend down to look under the trailer to see what the issue is and in a split second I know this thing isn't going anywhere, the landing gear and trailer support are trash. This trailer is going to a repair shop.
I started getting bombarded by more text about getting a move on.
I call dispatch and tell them the trailer is damage and It can't be moved
Are you sure you can't hook up to it
Well I guess could but I am not so no I can't.
Turns out a few weeks ago another driver drop off the trailer containing a load. A yard driver was moving trailers about and when he moved the trailer I am writing about something snapped on the 5th wheel the trailer came loose and hit the ground
No one was hurt praise God
So the trailer was eventually lifted up and some how put where it was.
It was supposed to be unloaded and loaded onto a different trailer
Only as it was supposed to getting done a quality inspector from the shipper was supposed to be checking things
The load is in limbo
So I ended up grabbing an empty trailer and dead heading to Yuma
By the time I reach Yuma I got 5 or 6 hours I can still drive, I can easily make it to California.
I will find a place to park and roll out in the morning
My load isn't ready probably sometime tomorrow:(:thinking:o_O:cool::oops::mad:
So I go park
Finally I get a call my load is ready:D
I go get my paperwork, do my trailer inspection and get hook up
The trailer has issue with the abs system s until it's fixed I Iam not rolling so am currently standing about burning up as a mechanic tries to fix the issue

Sorry you're having such a ridiculous runaround, @joe71. But look on the bright side: you're in some of the most beautiful areas of the US. :)

I realize you do this for a living, so you're probably not as enthralled with it as your average tourist. I love the drive through Arizona (and New Mexico), especially when I'm heading west. Once I cross the California border, I know I'm home! The scenery is beautiful, so maybe try to focus on that and let all the crap with dispatch and the trailer fade away...

Lol, reminds me of this from last week, but this was probably going a little faster than a yard truck.
https://twitter.com/MassStatePolice/status/1172510828131758080?s=20
That is one of my biggest fears going down the freeway and the trailer comes off, I tripple check the 5th wheel , locking jaw, I do tug test , I start out moving slowly, I know I can all the inspecting all the double and triple checking and the worst thing might happen. With the accident in the yard it was faulty bolt or something not visible

If some act of god makes the SSID saids "no" about my early retirement, I will be still feel happy working with my girl,
but if another devil's hand saids "yes" I would simple put my foot down. And say "bug off"
Not anymore, won the case and still will be able to continue with her.

Social Security Disablities.
Yes, I know--but which one? You said SSID--which does exist--but could've been a typo for SSDI, or SSI. I'm on SSDI.
I meant on that, I won the case as of last week.
I know. :) Yay! I'll bet that was a relief! :D
