Help Exynos s10e not recognized by any computer

Hey, this is a strange problem I have been having for some time now... I am apprehensive to include this detail right away as I don't want anyone to jump to the conclusion of it being a hardware problem, but about 2 months ago I started getting the Moisture in USB port error all of the time. I promise, it wasn't wet.

Not the biggest problem in the word, because I anyway always just use wireless charging as default. But it did kind of freak me out none the less, and I wanted to backup all of my data and do a factory reset to see if this helped anything before trying to deal with warranty support for a possible broken USB port. I eventually got the port to think it was dry, and hooked it up to two different windows 10 computers, one windows 7 computer, and my Linux computer (which i have use many times in the past to transfer files with no problems). I promise this isn't a driver issue, I promise this isn't a cable or computer USB port issue.

When I plug it in, the phone just starts charging, the computer acts as if nothing happened.

I went into dev settings and made sure it was set to MTP by default. It was. I anyway tried all the same settings, with no luck.

Nothing changed on my computer, yet it no longer recognizes my phone, which is also unrecognized by any computer I try. The USB port works fine for charging now, and I have tried many cables.

Any ideas? Whenever I try to search about this all i get pretty much is "dId YoU tRy ReStArTiNg It???"

I really wanted to back up all my stuff and flash Lineage :/

That's not right, and sounds like it could very well be a hardware problem. And if it is, it's repair or replacement required. From you're you've described, I think you've tried just about everything else you can.

You can copy your stuff and backup the phone wirelessly, using WiFi or Bluetooth. But to flash Lineage OS, you'd definitely need a working USB.

Can you explain how to backup my phone (like, really backup by copying folders, not using SmartSwitch or omething) via wifi? All I could find was to use WiFi direct to other samsung devices, which I don't have.

I feel like bluetooth would take prohibitively long to do. I also tried with SD card but was getting errors about not being able to send whole folders. Know anything about that?

Its possible to back up using ADB over wifi?

If it is a software problem, performing a factory reset should clear it. But you need to backup first before doing that. As for backing up a Samsung using Smart Switch or something, no real ideas, it's not something I've ever done. Somebody else may know more.

yeah this is what i'm hoping.

I'm not talking smart switch...im talking straight up copy and pasting all of the folders somewhere. Do you have any mechanism in mind to do this via WIFI?
Or via ADB over WIFI? That should be the same regardless of manufacturer

AirDroid is an excellent app to connect your phone to your PC. Here's the link...

Here are some instructions on how to use it...

1. Install the airdroid app on your phone.
2. On your PC browser open this link: http://web.airdroid.com/
3. In the airdroid app on your phone in the upper right click the square containing a line.
4. Now scan the barcode that's in the PC browser window with the airdroid app.
5. You should now be connected to your PC with your phone.
6. In your PC browser click on the "Files" icon in the Airdroid web interface.
7. Then in the left sidebar select "SD Card".
8. Now highlight every folder or just the ones you want and click "Download" to backup those folders to your PC.

Yes, install an FTP app on the phone, and connect to it from the computer. Your phone and computer must be on the same WLAN.

The FTP solution is great! I'm just gonna point out that AirDroid does not require you to upload to any third party. Data goes directly from your phone to your PC or from your PC to your phone over your wifi network.

AirDroid does need to be connected to their servers to make the initial connection though, when you scan the QR code at web.airdroid.com. Which for me causes problems, in that it can be very slow to load the page and QR, or sometimes just not work at all. Likely because I'm in China. And if I use a VPN to connect to web.airdroid.com, that stops any WLAN phone to computer connections dead.

Mike I know, I've been a long time user. He thought you need to upload your files/data to Airdroid. Was only pointing out that you don't.

Of course, I do know that. But I was pointing out that AirDroid does need to be connected to their servers to actually use it at all. Which for me has actually made it pretty much unusable a lot of the time. And I was a long time AirDroid user as well, and often recommended it on AF.

Perhaps they made the change for monetization, to show ads and data mining possibly?

Airdroid has always connected to their servers since it's always been a WebApp that you do not install on your PC and needs to fetch the GUI from their servers.

Furthermore, you still are in fact connecting to "192.168.x.x" and nothing was removed as you say. The difference is that now you don't need to type it out. It enters it for you when you scan the barcode. I posted a screenshot I just took showing that.

They make money if you need to use your cellular data for the connection at which point you'll need an account. They also seem to have other services. They are still the reputable app they've always been.

Data is only uploaded to their servers if you use a cellular data connection for obvious reasons.
I've never had your issues using it in the USA or Caribbean. Never created an account either.

I'm actually very tempted to give them a call about it on Monday.

When I did manually enter the IP address 192.168.x.x etc. I was seeing nothing. Before the update it would always connect to my phone and I could see everything. I used to be able to see the device IP address in the AirDroid app, and now it just shows "connect to web.airdroid.com".

I guess the Chinese company that makes AirDroid wants to improve their monetization at any cost. Sort of like Cheetah Mobile, etc.

I did read this recent XDA Devs post about AirDroid earlier, when I was doing my research about it.
