1. Completely erased everything on the phone through TWRP 2. Flashed TWRP back onto phone 3. Flashed Debloated stock rom. 4. Flashed Gapps Pico. 5.Flashed No verity the latest one. 6. Flashed The CDMA to GSM patch. The patch actually improves the call quality of the phone. And when booting on the phone it's best to take out the Sims or you'll be sitting there waiting for eternity. After you setup the phone then install the Sims for those who unlocked the carrier. If you need the files inbox me.

Would you mind posting it up here? or maybe on the Mega repo? A dedicated GSM patch sounds awesome for others trying to do what you did

What firmware are you on? I know from experience if you're on the August 2018 security patch firmware you need to go to at least the November 1st 2018 patch to unlock it. I'm pretty sure the ones after that are unlockable as well but I could be wrong so let me know

I am still on august 2018 patch level. Below i have more details about the phone

Android Security Patch Level: August 1st 2018
Baseband Version: MPSS.JO.3.0-00369-8937_GENNS_PACK-2.169105.1
Kernel Version: 3.18.31-perf
Hardware Version: V2.0
Build Number: ORB555L_V1.0.4_BVZPP

When I Checked for system update it is saying new version available Version: ORB555L_V1.0.7_BVZPP. Do you think i should update the software with new version?

Here comes another Dev Diary entry since that's what it seems like this thread is turning into

I was in the process of trying to dirty port Lineage 14.1 to this thing from @bcrichster's build for the owens, when I realized in the build.prop that the Orbic actually runs 64 bit android! This by itself is honestly pretty damn cool but that means I can't then dirty port from the owens zip. So it's back to the drawing board for us. Hopefully Orbic shares its kernel source soon so we don't have to do this crap

I have found some more ROMS capable of dirty porting that are of 64bit arch.

Whats up guys? Glad the ball is still rolling for this project.

Thanks! Bit slow these days without most of us having free time, a full team and advanced programmers / beta testers. =\

.
Hey guys, I don't know if you are interesting on the Orbic Wonder yet, but I just bought an auction and came 52 units for me. I removed the google lock but I can't unlock them. If you guys can help me on this......

OTG Works. I used a OTG Flashdrive with a MicroUSB connector using Type C adapter tip on and it worked fine. However
I was unable to get either of my standard cheap OTG cables nor my split OTG with power connection to fuinction also had to use a Type-C adapter. Not if it was cables, the drives tested requiring more power or what Give it a try with your OTG device/cable and let us know!

August 2018 is still able to have the bootloader unlocked. I unlocked one of mine that was already on it. Really i don't think this device is going to give us troubles on updates but I will see if someone is willing to test it out on a newer update if there is any yet. I only have 3 of the Verizon Orbic Wonder RC555L, one in use on Nov, another for dev on Aug and one bricked waiting for Test Points when i get the hardware.

I need the modem file for this phone can anyone help me please

Did you post on XDA about this and are the same person msging me about my EDL Dumps / Debrick package? I asked some questions but never heard back. Let me know here or there and when i get time I will get the modem files to you. Sorry i literally deal with near every brand handset daily research, modding, and phone sales so i nearly have my hands full 97% of the time..

Got this working on it as well.

Awesome! I don't remember if this is the same Version and API I used or not. From testing the one I got working was the only one compatible.I think i skipped the first and last API under Version 89. Have not tested since then as it worked smooth. You might give those a try and see. I have since removed it as I get more out of Magisk Modules.

LES DEJO UN VIDEO DE COMO LO HICE YO SIN ROOT NI NADA AMIGOS EN MINUTOS

Nice! Did NCK actually work? I'm not doubting you I just did not see a test call or data use.. e.g browsing for an example. Reason I say this is because you can run an activated/unactivated sim card, decline the unlock screen and still show 4G along with signal bars while the box will go through its process just fine.but you wont be able to make/recieve calls or use the data even with editing network settings in the programming menu. Again i have not used activated a telcel sim card here yet so I do not know if it is swappable like for example AT&T, Cricket and MVNO sim cards or ICCID / IMEI etc locked to Network like with MetroPCS. Even if unactivated I would assume you could dial out and get an activation / notification audible system msg and if same as most networks goto browser and get redirected to the internal setup page.

What's up with the process? It's off.. Did you change the IMEI? I see you entered an invalid IMEI in the IMEI write box. Yet NCK shows a valid Verizon clean IMEI in the progress window. There is a way to unlock without changing IMEI / MEID and also with changing the IMEI / MEID but the latter is illegal in the states... However I did the this with a GSM network active sim (cloning) only for testing purposes and well of course you should already know how that works. With that said I do not condone changing IMEI in the USA just repairing. Only changing IMEI if done in countries it is legal or not regulated (grey area). When i changed mine it was DONE STRICTLY for TESTING / EDUCATIONAL purposes ONLY. =]

Not trying get onto you for changing the IMEI (if the case) or mean to question NCK's ability just have heard only a few people claim NCK unlocked The Orbic Wonder but have not seen anything in action and am wondering why the 2 IMEI are different. I do not have NCK else I would see for myself.

If NCK working good job as if normal process is going through as most boxes conventional unlocking this means some other boxes should work too!

Great Video btw. I have yet to get UAT videos up. All in due time.

The debloated ROM has too many FC's and as Jason did his best cookin it up in the kitchen IMHO I would not recommend it as a daily driver. I beta tested it heavily on a customers device. Noticed many errors and even after fixing some the customer still had issues.

You should not need to take out the Sim card while booting at all. You must have a problem that I did not catch or this patch you are mentioning does not work properly and select / switch between the correct band(s) / connect to the towers properly. Is it running 4G with LTE, HSPA / RAT.

What does this CDMA to GSM patch do. Change the bands to more suitable bands and for what networks does it work well with? Is it a simple RIL / Band edit or enabling the band priority in hidden settings (have not tried this menu)? The Orbic Is already Globally Unlocked once actually unlocked and will work on any GSM network and as well I do believe Sprint if I remember the Orbic Wonder having the 2500 band.

With my methods I never once had to do any band changing or removal of sim. Curious to know more. Would be great to see the files if you don't mind sending them my way. Perhaps I could fix a thing or two.

What's your Security Patch date and is this the Verizon Orbic Wonder or the Factory Unlocked Orbic Wonder?

If Verizon.. Boot into system, goto system, about, press build version 7 times, back a screen, goto developer options, enable toggle button, check oem unlock, enable usb debugging, open cmd prompt, (make sure you have adb installed correctly and latest platform package wont hurt), type in "adb reboot bootloader" once you see the colored bootloader option screen dont toggle anything, go back to cmd prompt and type in "fastboot oem unlock" then follow the directions on the Orbic Wonders screen. Phone will reboot and wipe then you can go from there following Jason's instructions to install TWRP and so fourth.

I just wanted to add (yes i know i've blown this thread up ha.. just trying to help) that Team Orbic has been working now on the Orbic Slim some and have built TWRP for 5.1 with 6.0 coming after I test more of 5.1 all thanks to a new programmer aboard I hope to introduce soon. I have also still been working on getting the Unlocked Orbic Wonder's bootloader unlocked. I am playing around with strings still and learning a bit more about the BL's security through its stages thanks to some great authors findings in the phone security field.

Hope my return here and long *ss post has helped. I will try to come back as time permits me for more help, news, recoveries and hopefully eventually our ROMS for these Orbics.

I decided to update phone to November 2018 patch level and after that voila i was able to unlock bootloader. Thanks jasonmerc for the small tip there.

So you flashed the Nov 2018 bootloader? Why? You are risking security going back, and its 100% the Aug is unlockable. You are only hurting yourself going back. Hell this phone had nothing special done to unlock it in the first place. Jason knows this..... and i know this. It's basically a Xiaomi Redmi. I have the connections to the kernel source that all these chinese use on their brands. Not easy to find. Point is it was put together cheap and easy with power however.. With that said is an awesome phone, great kernel, wifi better than most phones even flagship status, and the camera is perfection beyong what youd expect.

I'm having trouble flashing the disable-encryption-and-verity zip. Can anyone post step by step instuctions? I'm not able to access the sd card or internal storage in TWRP, and I cant transfer the file over MTP.
Go into TWRP>Advanced>ADB Sideload and start that. From your computer, in a command line type "adb sideload nameofzip.zip" to flash any ZIP from the computer to the phone. Note that disabling verity like this will cause the system to do a factory reset and wipe /data and /sdcard, so take backups before you do. If it works successfully you will then be able to access your internal storage from within TWRP

Thanks so much for replying. Funny because I just figured out a way to do it a different way when I got a notification of your reply. I changed the filesystem of Data to EXT4 and I was able to send the zip over MTP. Should I do it over and install the way you outlined? Thanks for all your work on this phone and the info you posted. Just trying to get my Verizon variant to work on AT&T.

I'd leave filesystem stuff alone. Changing to EXT4 actually wiped the /data and /sdcard partitions. I don't know if the kernel supports reading ext4 filesystems, or if it started as that (as opposed to F2FS or something). It's better to leave it as it is and just format it unless you're using a custom kernel and you KNOW that it supports the other filesystem in question. If your phone works fine now then don't worry about it, perhaps it actually was EXT4 to begin with and you did no harm. But just as a future reference for other phones you might have to do this on, watch out

You will also need to flash the disable verity zip too if you want to stop it from automatically encrypting itself on startup everytime you format it to decrypt it. Afterwards, format your /data one more time to get rid of the encryption once and for all, and then reboot to Android

Oh also, just as a future reference for you and anyone else reading this in the same boat, once your bootloader is unlocked and everything DO NOT TAKE ANY MORE OTA UPDATES, EVER. Or else you run the risk of relocking it and losing the ability to unlock ever again. I'm not sure if Orbic or Verizon knows about this little hole they opened up, but if they did then they could be pushing an OTA update to try and "fix" this which could undo everything and take away the ability to ever unlock it again.

Either way, hope the phone works out for you! Let me know how the signal strength and everything is on AT&T for it

Thanks for the info. I changed the file system back and got everything up and running except using it for AT&T. As I've been reading more it seems that there isn't exact instructions for changing carrier. Is this right? Is there an "official" way to change carriers yet?
If you read up a bit I think there's something about resetting a QCN or something like that. Find that post and that is how to unlock it for GSM carriers. Look for another post by @Ghostoftime and he links an additional GSM patch you have to flash in TWRP too.

There is no real official way of doing this, except buying service for Verizon Prepaid for 3 months and then asking them to unlock it (eww).
