Did I break my water seal?

I just got this note 10+ a few days ago. I bought an otterbox defender screenless edition case for it. It was hard getting the phone into it. I was afraid I was going to break the phone because I had to push so hard to get it in. I don't know how I'll ever get it out of the case if I ever needed to.

But after I got the phone in the case, I noticed a piece of plastic hanging down from the top of the screen coming out from the case. I just pulled the plastic out. (Needed to use needle nose pliers because the case is so tight.) But now I also see a smaller plastic piece at the bottom of the screen.

Just wondering if that plastic i pulled off was a water sealer. I'm guessing not. It would seem to me Samsung would've sealed it on the inside of the phone. Maybe it was just factory packaging tape that i didn't notice before i put it in the case.

So, I was having a lot of strange issues with my phone, so I exchanged it for another Note 10+. I had the sales guy take the old phone out of the case and put it on the new phone. I learned then that i put the case on wrong which is why it went in so hard. And, because I put it in wrong, it pealed up the factory screen protector a little. He pealed it off more to show me it's a screen protector. So the new phone is in the case right and i dont have the plastic sticking out of the edge of the case.

yep the note 10+ actually came with a screen protector. i peeled mine off and put a zagg shield instead on it.....i'm pretty sure that is what those plastic bits were.

How come did you change it to a zagg screen protector? What's better about it? I have another forum post where I'm complaining about how bad the fingerprint sensor is. I've read on the internet that screen protectors mess with the screen fingerprint sensor. Until I exchanged my phone, I didn't think there was a screen protector on the phone. But if you have the correct screen protector it should work good. I'm surprised if Samsung knows this and is factory installing a screen protector, why wouldn't they install a screen protector that didn't mess up the fingerprint sensor? But, now I know it's there, and if it drives me crazy enough, I'll take it off. I've had many phones over the years and some I had screen protectors. Not once has it ever saved me or had something go wrong that I wished I had a screen protector.

for a couple of reasons. They give you a one time free replacement, if the shield cracks (for their glass version) or gets badly scratched. plus for me I'm terrible at putting these things on. at the mall near me zagg has a kiosk and they can install it for you. if i need a replacement, all they would charge is $12 to put it on for you.

I guess it is just a convenience for me. been using them for years. I almost got the Whitestone protector, but chickened out...... lol. plus it is a really good product, it has already saved my phone from many disasters.

Yeah, I can't get screen protectors on phones either. I tried it a few times and had bubbles I couldn't get rid if and ended up destroying the protector trying to get rid of the bubbles. So, if I get one, I have the guy at the store install it now. That's what I did for my last phone. (Only reason I got it on my last phone is my wife wanted one. Seeing they were installing it on my wife's phone, I asked them to put one on my phone.)
