Root Villain 6

Flashed this ROM this morning, seems nice and smooth so far but still early days. keyboard lag is very very minimal much better than I was getting with 5.5 but this may be due to the complete wipe and flash that is required with 6.0.

Camera is not green and seems not too grainy as long as ISO is kept at auto.

Only niggle is that Android smilies are not enabled, well that might be because the keyboard has
Code:
;)
buttons rather than
Code:
;-)
buttons.

Sammy, I'm guessing you're talking about the HTC_IME mod keyboard? (That's the only one that has smiley buttons I think). You can define your own smiles in the settings if they're not right. If you're using another version of the htc keyboard.... the modded one is probably better :p

The improved responsiveness + normal coloured pictures is down to the new kernel I believe. It also lets you overclock to 710MHz if you're feeling adventurous :p You might find that when turning the screen if the phone's been in sleep mode on things look a bit purple. It's annoying but turning the screen on and off again sorts it.

I think I'm going to stick with 6 for now. It seems slightly better than SlideVillain so far.

It works in my browser (Xscope) and in the albums app. Not on google maps though.

I'll try the brut.al version of google maps (the one that comes with some custom ROMs).

EDIT: Nope, that one doesn't work either. Even though it supposedly 'force-enables MT'.

I don't know about 6.1.

I don't think it does, why would it need to? You can 'zoom' just by dragging the edge of the box with one finger.

I'm having some trouble with the overclocking on 6.0. I always set my phone to 528MHz when the screen is on, 250ish-300ish when the screen's off. But a few times it's got stuck permanently on 250 untill I reboot.

I just wish they would fix some of the problems on their other Roms before releasing 6.0

+1

If only they could all work together, and stick to one rom, and get it 100% right.

At the same time, before anyone accuses me of being ungrateful, I would like to thank them for their efforts, it is appreciated.
The problem is.....some of us just want one perfect rom, that we can stick with, until the next perfect rom comes out. Instead of having to nandroid, wipe and flash and then find out that the new rom is worse than the previous one in parts.

Quite happy with this so far, much quicker than the previous ROM I'd been using (5.3). I'm not that bothered about lack of multi-touch support in certain apps, I use my Hero for email and texting mainly, both of which need little, if any, multi-touch. Saying that of course, any updates will be well received ;):D

Not sure how to use the OTA updater though, there is a voice fix (6.0.1) and I downloaded it OTA, but expected a reboot and it'd install itself. It didn't. Any tips?

Running well on mine at the moment, multi-touch works fine except for maps and the camara finally works properly again. The only issue I have is not waking from sleep properly sometimes, either get a black screen (with backlight) or a strange purple or green screen. Not sure I really want to mess with the cpu speeds unless someone knows some values that will not hurt battery performance or my hardware.

I think the problem is they test it on the few phones they have and iron out the bugs they come across but as you can see from this thread some people get bugs where others don't so they are only discovered when it's released to the masses. It's for this reason a 6.1 will come out so quickly.

Any value higher than default will result in shorter battery life. It's simple - more ticks per second means more juice needed. Also, your phone may heat up slightly more, which could be a nice perk during cold, winter months. :)
