TOUGH stove cleaning

What are ovens like in the 2950s?

You're sitting on a time machine and never told us?! :D
They got all retro again @MoodyBlues Clocks with arms and numbers that don't sync to GMT. Recipe cards on a disk of paper and an honest to dog metal bell that gets struck by a metal mallet for a one time timer. Kind of like the 1950's stoves but with indestructible materiels. We even replicate the size!

I'm relieved to hear all those silly, easily breakable, expensive to fix, can't do-it-yourself, newfangled electronics are gone by then, @dontpanicbobby! Going back to good old reliable, easily fixable mechanical parts sounds good to me. :D

Now, when can I join you in your time machine? I'd really like to revisit the 1960s, but older this time--I want to be a hippie, living the sex, drugs and rock 'n roll lifestyle...before we knew better. I want to go to Monterey Pop, see the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl, go to Woodstock and play in the rain and mud naked, and protest the Vietnam War at school in Berkeley. Ah, the good times...

Right now it's almost nowhere. I'm still using the same old stainless steel scrubber, sometimes with liquid dish detergent. Maybe one of these days I'll get to the dollar store at last and grab a can of oven cleaner. Meanwhile I'm resorting to Dominos more, which of course leads to another problem. (You guys should know me by now.) They have this rewards program which I think I signed up for but when I tried to enter the code it gave me crap. I checked and reentered it...same thing. Then I called their number, which just rang and rang. Last chance, I tried to send them email, which for some mysterious reason didn't work either. When I looked at the locations part it seemed to be in Canada. What gives?

What would you recommend for bad burners and drip pans? They look as if chimney sweeps should deal with them. I've used those stainless steel scrubbers but they don't help that much. I wish I could find Brasso or Whink.

If the drip pans are beyond cleaning, it's quite likely you can score up a replacement set for fifteen to twenty dollars. Not knowing the make / model I'm only guessing at a price. I base that guess on a quick look at different sets of drip pans at Amazon.

I hate to break this to you, but that whole exchange had to do with DPB's reference to the 2950s. He time-travelled to the future! :D
