Hey guys hope everyone is staying safe out there!

I was playing around on my phone and I noticed that when I try to save a video on my phone from FB messenger or text message Instagram etc (basically anywhere you can save a video from) and I noticed the saved video is always Missing a few seconds in the beginning, anyone else notice that? And have a possible solution? Thanks!😁

Okay, I have saved videos from three different apps in three different places:
From my texting app in my Gallery, from Facebook in Facebook (on my page) and from Instagram in Instagram (on my page). I haven't noticed a lag or missing video on any of them. I'll keep checking.
Sorry

Ok thanks, like if I'm in messenger and my friend sends a video they recorded and I try to save that the beginning will always be missing a bit

I long press the video and then choose save across most app it's like that...
Here is what I do in FB messenger and I don't loose anything.
1. I tap on the paused video.

2. I get the original video.

3. I tap that and get

4. I tap the menu icon(3 dots) and get

5. Then I choose Save Video and I've got it. To view I go to my FB home page

Tap the menu icon and get:

Tap Save and see all my saved pictures & videos.

It's involved, but it's the only way I can save FB messenger videos.
Single photos are easier and saving from my Texting app has a setting to automatically save pictures.

That's all of it. I hope it helps.

Hey thanks dude, for that it works ok that's saving the video to your Facebook to watch later, I mean when I save the video to my phone's memory, let's say for example my friend films video and send it to me via Facebook messenger or text message if I long press on the video itself I have the option to save it to my phone, it is when I go to watch the video in my gallery later that the first second or two of the video is usually cut can you try this and see if yours does it too?

Thank you very much

When I press on a received video in FB messenger, I don't get the option to save. I don't know why.Screenshot_20200331-004809.png

Damn. :/ Maybe it has to be a video they recorded that you can save??

I found a video in FB messenger that was recorded by the sender. It was short, only 2 seconds, but it did the trick. First, it had the "Save video" option, so you were right. Congrats! Second, when I saved it, it went from 2 seconds to 1 second. I lost some of it also. However, when I played it within the messenger, there was no loss. The loss occurred only when saving it and the loss had nothing to do with the app I used to play it back. The loss was when "Saving", not in the play back.

The only thing I can think of is when the video is processed to save, somehow the parts gets cut. I'm certainly no expert on how files get processed. I thought that it might be a compression issue. Files may be compressed when sent but if that caused a loss, all file transport would be suspect. There are different forms of compression though where insignificant parts are removed. Maybe that is the reason for the loss, but I'm just guessing. Sorry I can't do better.
