iPhone pic better than Incredible

I recently purchased an Incredible and am enjoying the phone so far. However, I took an indoor picture and the colors seem way more accurate when taken by the iphone. Is it possible I dont have the settings setup properly? I figured the Incredible camera would blow away that of the iphone.

You can change the settings for mote vivid colors. Alot of people don't realize this on the incredible but I set my camera up nice so that it looks decent now

Well as you can see the 8mp photo is much larger in resolution, and if you take the photo from a different angle, the lighting will be different therefore making the picture looking duller, try taking 2 exact same photos, then post the results I haven't got my Inc yet so cant tell you any setting im afraid, but my Omnia blew the Iphone out the water so the Inc should be better IMO

Instead of auto white balance, cycle through the different options to find one that matches as close to real as possible. Depending on conditions, the lighting filter on the camera can be wrong.

Im guessing the incredible photo is the 2nd one, as it took longer to load up, hence the size different in file, meaning more pixels...

yep, def mess with the settings. Don't just use it out of factory stock. I personally ditched using the stock camera and purchased Vignette.

For that pic ^, turn brightness down to -1, saturation +1, metering to spot, and focus on the cabinet (tap and hold on the cabinet to focus there and hold longer to take the picture), you should a picture much closer to the iPhone one, if that's what you want.

Much better, ok so the couple of things i notice, is the Iphone (pic on right) photo is very blurry in lots of place, look at the picture of you and (wife) on the shelf. The colors are defo more vibrant on that picture also, but have you played with the settings? I don't have one to play with yet, but ive heard you can turn on vibrant colors and all sorts.

Also you have to put into perspective, that the Inc takes 8mp photos, so that photo will prob print better at high quality.

Yup thats what all Apple product are for ease of use, if you want something better then a product JUST designed for ease of use, thats why people get PC's, Android phones etc... Yeah might be a tad hard to get used to, but the end product is way better

That's also why people prefer click-and-shoots over professional cameras. It's easier to not have to think about it. Doesn't make the click-and-shoot better, though.

I agree but I'm also thinking practically. I'm not looking to take professional photos, most of my photos are taken in social situations or of my dogs. I don't have time to adjust picture settings when that "in the moment" situation arises.

I think you'll find you can adjust them to a setting a save that setting for most shots, and only have to adjust in real time, if you actually are like in dark or something. This is all just guess work as i did the same with my omnia, when i get my Inc, ill test this more throughly if other people haven't by then

Under most instances, I have found the camera to work quite well in "need you now" situations. Just leave the settings to brightness -1 (unless going out at night), saturation +1, AF off, and metering: Spot, and you really shouldn't need to do much else.

Does the iPhone auto-adjust to give you better photos than the Incredible's in different situations, such as different kinds of lighting? Not asking that to be rude. It's an honest question.

Come on man, I had an honest question about this phone. I'm the furthest from a "fanboy". In fact, i'll be trying out the Evo one June 4th so if I was that much of a fanboy why stray?
I'm am really enjoying android but want to make sure I make an informed decision before fully committing.

I don't own an iphone, and I never will (AT&T is crap and Apple is a control-freak), but when it comes to cell phone cams, I think they should work as well as the iphone cam seems to for sognare -- with default settings. I get the analogy of point-and-shoot cameras to professional DSLRs, but... the Incredible a cell phone. No one's doing professional photography with it. How many settings do we need for what will always be a sub-par photography device?

So lay off sognare, I think. He never claimed the Incredible couldn't take good photos, only that a cell phone is expected to be pick up and play. I'll fiddle with the settings to make sure I get the best camera possible once my phone arrives, but it would be nice if I didn't have to, no?
