How To Work New Android 10 Features

Hi all. I'm on T-Mobile and received the update to A10. I was wondering what new features have you noticed.
I'm hoping the moderators can pin this thread so that we can share the new tricks for this not so old dog. I've found that if you long press the camera icon after opening the camera a slider will appear which will allow you to zoom and changes lens. Also on the right corner a tablet shaped icon will appear which will allow you to preview all three camera views. Anyone else have some discoveries to share?

This is a warning about a specific setting. It's "Display Size" under "Display". When I first updated to Android 10 everything looked larger but I wasn't sure. So I went looking through the settings and found that "Display Size" slider was at the largest setting. I moved it to the middle for a while then moved it back. A few apps had missing icons on their control bar. So I wrote to their support. This morning I set it to the middle setting and the missing icons, across two apps, came back.
So be very careful adjusting the "Display Size" slider.

Aggrevates me that there's only 3 sizes available.
Seems like they could have stops in between the 3 standard options.
It certainly could have avoided causing my issues if I could have enlarged it by a smaller increment. And I never knew that increasing the display would remove control icons like the "Send" arrow in an email app.

I've found another issue that's strange. On my new email app, the alert, when I receive an email, uses the "Media" volume slider so I set it on the loudest. But when I play a game, I lower it. If I forget to raise it back, I miss the alerts. In Android 10, when I change the volume in a game, there are two or three sliders that appear; the Media, the game's and sometimes for the Button Mapper app. (Why the Button Mapper, I have no idea.) When I adjust the game's slider, the volume doesn't change unless it is at the lowest. Then the game's volume is completely off. So the game's slider is an on & off switch, not a slider. Has anyone else seen this? Screenshot_20200615-160604.png Screenshot_20200615-160355.png

I just discovered a glitch in System Settings.
If you remember, I reported a few "secret updates" that I wasn't aware of. I thought they were downloaded and installed without permission. That may be the case, however, it may not. When I go to System Updates and "Check for new system update", no matter if there is or isn't an update,

the System Update Status updates to when you last checked, not when it was last updated.
Please check and let me know if you find the same thing.

I see the same, Mark.
I noticed it earlier when I had checked and mine was on May 23rd but had changed to June 10th.

Thanks Pit. As least I know it isn't just my phone. So now we don't know if we got updates or they were a glitch and who cares?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yep. There's always a trade off with these OS updates. I refused the upgrade on my Note 9 for 2 months because of all the reported issues. I was gonna do the same with my V40 but I had a glitch and did a soft reset and the darn update downloaded after it powered back on. So far so good.

We didn't have a choice on Verizon. It was a forced update. I updated voluntarily, and I'm not really happy with the update. There are a few things that I like, but there are lots of issues. The issues far outweigh the benefits.

I pulled the old trick where you hit download when it's 1st shows up then hit pause. It sits in the que forever til you're ready.
