Sound out on TV but only wifi part

At least that's how it seems. The regular on air broadcasts do have sound. Plug and replug doesn't work. Could it somehow be the set itself? It's a used but relatively new Element.

Too much of a coincidence to have the same issue with two different TV's.
Sounds like you may have a problem with your network or content provider rather than the TV itself.

No, I'm not. I'm using Roku Express (their smallest, cheapest model, of course). It can be tough to track down its location sometimes because it's about the size of a small hand. That doesn't seem to have anything to do with this, though. The wifi is from Century link, not my favorite but almost the only provider available in the boonies. The service is supposed to be able to handle 7 - 9 devices at a time, but it struggles sometimes with just 2 or even 1.

How do I check the speed? I don't use ether net if it's the one with the yellow cord. I guess that's for worst case scenario (but what is this)?

Just use your phone instead, make sure you are on wifi and open your browser and go to fast.com
Let it check your speed

Have you tried rebooting the Roku?

If the on air channels work then the Roku needs to be the next thing to look at

If the Roku Express has a Sound menu you should select Dolby Digital or DD+ apparently.

At least this one had an easy cure. It turns out the sound somehow got switched to night setting. When it came back on it was almost too loud.
