Note 20/20 Ultra Pre-order Waiting Room

I booked mine the very next day after the unpacked event.
They didn't go into details with each device like they did in the past, and I remember they used to keep the Note for last. This time it was the first device to be shown. The Z Fold 2 is like their new focus now it seems.

Anyways, went to a Samsung store and booked for the Ultra mystic bronze 256. Wished they also matte frosted the black and white as well. Also, kind of bummer that it's Exynos... Went back after 2 days later to change my storage option to 512.

Bookings for the Ultra gets a free buds live included. Regular note gets a Buds+.

So crossing my fingers the phones arrive sometime around the 21st. 🤞

Hope those who ordered gets theirs on time!

Whoops! I had forgotten I had the Buds Live pre-ordered (silly me) and ordered the Sony WF1000-xm3 set, which has insanely good reviews and will be here Thursday. If those work better for me than the Buds Live, I'll clean up the jellybeans, box them up and gift them to the son (aka "former tax deduction") as an early Christmas gift. He's bought me a couple of killer shirts this year, so he's got it coming to him...

Free buds? Meh!...as I never use the stock whatever earbuds that comes with phones.

I think you may be confusing the free Galaxy Buds Live bonus with those little wired AKG things Samsung packs in the box with the phone. I never use those, either... but this is way different.

Got mine on order today! I skipped the Note10, only note I haven't had since the 3. Looking forward to the 20 Ultra. Went for black! I got stuck with a blue note9 with the fugly yellow pen, so it's nice to get a black phone again. I just went with the 128gig version as I'm not even using half of the 128 gigs on my Note9 onboard storage, and have a 256gig microSD card that holds all my media, and still nowhere near half full yet.

The cons of pre-ordering and upgrading???... This next week and half will last an eternity, and insomnia initiated!:oops::oops:

Mine shows the following:
Order Status: Awaiting Inventory
Order Type: Equipment/Sim Upgrade
Created By:
Order Date: 08/12/2020
Ship Expected: 08/21/2020

This is from verizon's business portal. I guess once we receive the phones we can go to Sammys website and enter our order info to get the credit for accessories. Not sure what I'm gonna get yet.

IN ANTICIPATION OF YOUR NEW NOTE:

There are a few things I like to do before my new phone arrives... and I thought you would be well served by the list.

  • Review all apps and uninstall the ones you don't want or need anymore
  • Update everything in the Play and Galaxy Stores
  • Make sure Smart Switch is updated and ready to go
  • Back up your phone to Samsung Cloud, OneDrive, and/or your PC - particularly the internal memory
  • Review your authorized devices on Google and remove old devices you no longer have
  • Gather the original packaging, accessories, etc together for any devices you will be selling or exchanging
  • And wait impatiently!
Once the new Note gets here, I do these:
  • Charge both new and old phones
  • Log in on the new phone with Google and Samsung accounts
  • Install any & all system updates on the new phone!
  • Use Smart Switch to transfer user data, settings, home screens, etc. (widgets will need to be set up manually, so make sure you know where everything goes)
  • Log into critical accounts like Microsoft, Amazon, etc.
  • Shut down both phones and move SIM & memory cards
  • Fire up, log into all your apps
  • Verify everything is on the new phone before wiping the old one!
And then learn, explore, share tips & tricks with your friends on Android Forums!

Now I'm having another existential crisis...

What to NAME this phone? Yes, I have named every smartphone I've owned:

2009 - Motorola Droid - Droidette (or Dee for short)
2011 - Galaxy Nexus - Ginny
2013 - Galaxy Note 3 - Gina
2014 - Galaxy Note 4 - Alicia (because she was a leash on my hip)
2015 - Moto X Pure Edition - Maxine
2016 - Galaxy Note 7 (both of them) - Jeanette
2017 - Galaxy Note 8 - Jeanette (again)
2018 - Galaxy Note 9 - Jeanine
2019 - Galaxy Note 10+ - Jeanette (I'm wearing that name out)
2020 - Galaxy Note 20 Ultra - ?

Maybe you picked up on the phonetic naming convention I adopted: The "G" and "N" sounds are prevalent because of "Galaxy Note"... and the name is built around that. l like "Jeanette" because the "T" after the "N" is ideal to signify the "Note" aspect, but I've used that name for three phone models already. And while Samsung threw us all a curve ball by changing their naming convention, calling it the Note 20 instead of the Note 11, it doesn't make my task any easier.

I'm sort of leaning on Genevieve for some odd reason, but I'm open to hearing your suggestions. I have a week to name her and "transfer my flag", as it were, to my new baby...

My account shows a FedEx tracking number, says a label has been created and is expected to ship tomorrow, Aug 18th, 2 day standard, so looks like I'll get it on Thursday the 20th. I've been watching comparison reviews between the Galaxy Buds Plus and Galaxy Buds Live. Think I'm gonna go with the plus once I get the $150 Samsung credit.

I'm quite disappointed about (at least) one aspect of the Note 20, and that's the absence of the Qualcomm fingerprint scanner. It was my high hope that I'd finally be able to get away from this brainless Samsung scanner, which works great... unless it doesn't, which is much of the time. One can only hope the facial recognition has improved over the last year or this magnificent phone will be just as much a pain to get into.

I don't have any personal experience with the onscreen scanners yet as I still have the 9 with the scanner on the back. But the wife has had the 10+ this whole year and has told me that it can be touchy at times and often only works if she keeps her finger on it for a couple seconds. I did however watch some tech reviews on YouTube and I think it was the one by Flossy Carter that said the one on the 20 Ultra did seem to work flawlessly for him. Guess we'll find out in a couple days, if we all last that long without exploding with anticipation first!

My schedule is for me to receive my Note 20 Ultra tomorrow and charge up both phones, logging into the Samsung & Google accounts and updating everything. Thursday morning I will move everything over and begin setting up & using Jeanelle... and then decommissioning Jeanette and preparing the Note 10+ for an eBay auction Friday evening. Exciting times... woo hoo

(You can tell I'm retired with little social life when the highlight of my summer is setting up a new phone)

Received mine yesterday. Got a call from the Samsung store on my way to work. Made a U-turn.

Got the phone, buds live included (black), and two cases (Kvadrat and Samsung's new clear protective cover).

Using the 20 now and signing in to all my apps and will tweak settings.

I did post yesterday along with a picture, but think it was taken down? Did I violate a rule?

Received my note 20 ultra yesterday. Just got an update today. The phone doesn't seem that much bigger than the note 10 plus. It is bigger yet it doesn't have that feeling that it's that much more bigger. It feels heavy and solid. The screen, the images are so Crystal clear.
The camera on the back is a little frightening. I hope it lasts and doesn't get bashed.

Update: speaking of the camera this thing takes awesome pictures. You can zoom up to 50x. However, I find 20 x to be the perfect zoom for the clarity.

I went on Shop Samsung last Thurs when I got the phone, ended up ordering the Buds Plus like I had planned. Saw something somewhere that it would take 4-6 weeks to process. After I registered, I got an email that it was under review and I'd be notified within 48 hours. The next day, I got the email saying it's been approved and would ship by Aug 25th. This morning, i got an email that it shipped today via FedEx Expedited and will arrive on Wed the 26th. Great Job Samsung!
