Help Phone keeps chiming -- don't know why

My new G20 chimes several times a day as if notifying me of something, but it does not tell me what. It's not a phone call. And I've turned off notifications on all apps. Sometimes it chimes at 3 in the morning so I'm trying to disable it.

I put the phone in "do not disturb" mode, but then it won't let me answer the phone. It sends all calls to voicemail. I want to answer my phone -- I just don't want to hear the apparently meaningless chimes. So activating the "do not disturb" mode is not the answer.

NFC is not activated. And nothing appears on the screen or the pop-down menus to tell me why the phone is chiming. I've searched online for answers for over an hour, and none of the answers have helped me. I called Sprint, my phone company, but they just told me to turn down the volume. That's not a good solution, because I want the volume up in case I get a call.

How can I stop the phone from chiming for no apparent reason?

I just upgraded from S8, which never pestered me with random chiming.

if you go into settings>notifications>it should list the apps that sent notifications and at what time it sent it. does it show anything? maybe try and put the phone in safe mode and see if it happens again. if anything you might have to do a factory reset....so you might want to backup everything by using smart switch.

When I go into notifications, I don't see any list showing when an app notification sounded. I went into Settings/Sound and discovered that the chime sound I'm hearing is called "Spaceline," which is set as one of two "notification sounds," but it is not set as the system sound, which is "Galaxy." So I now know the name of the sound that keeps bothering me but that's about it.

I had previously discovered additional system apps that had notifications enabled, so I turned off all those notifications. So now every single notification should be turned off.

And yet this morning after doing that, it's like the phone is taking its revenge: I'm hearing the Spaceline sound more than ever, about once an hour now, again with no explanation on the phone as to why it's bothering me.

I finally figured out what the 3 random dings were. it sounds like an NBC tone. It would happen at very odd times. I had all notifications off and it would still happen. I have a local NBC affiliate weather app and even though I had system notification settings off for that app, it had separate settings with the app itself. Once I turned the notifications off directly on that app, it quit making the noise. They were actually weather notifications like lighting in your area, or extreme heat today. But since I was not receiving pop up notifications, I did not know which app the sound was coming from. I have been 3 months without the noise.
