Any Geocachers on here? need a bit of help please

Hi All,

I won't make a huge post as theres not much point if i'm all olone on this.

I've been geocaching for a few years now using a dedicated gps device.

But now i'm having a go using my Desire.

I'm looking for help with both

Anybody use these?, if so i have a few questions.

I've only used C:geo and Geobeagle. C:geo is excellent of you like to keep things simple.

I must confess I had not heard of the two apps you mentioned and after checking the Market I was stunned at the number of caching apps now available.

Another vote for c:geo. I still prefer using my satmap but that is just habitand a preference for OS maps . Using me Desire and c:geo on the off chance occasionally demonstrates that it is more than capable of doing the job

Why don't you just use Google Tracks and export your route?

I Find C:Geo works Great with the Desire and is very acurate.. All it needs now is offline support!

Yes, i agree with all the comments about C:Geo.....
However it is banned from use with geocaching.com as it breaks the terms and conditions that you agree to when you sign up....
You know the small print that you just click through........

So if you are "caught" using it, they will ben you from geocaching.com....ie no more caching as they hold the monopoly...

So that's why i'm trying to use these other programs.

WoW-- I didnt realize geocaching.com and c:geo had an issue as c:geo advertises itself as compatible with geocaching.com. I had not heard of anyone being banned for using it. It is an excellent program.

Yeah i know, it really is a great APP, i know geocaching.com are supposed to be releasing their own app, which is a shame as they could have just licenced this product and creamed off a bit of profit from selling it.

I don't know if anyone HAS been banned, but "they" are saying you can be.
You're not even allowed to say it's name on the forum, all mention of it is removed by the moderators!!!!!!

I've used c:geo and it is really good. Seemed to be accurate to the metre when I went digging around at my local cache! didn't realise it was some sort of off-piste product though. Not too fussed as I'm not that serious about it. The compass setting on it is ace.

I believe that c:geo falls foul of geocaching.coms t&cs because it scrapes cache data from the site and then formats it so it is more suitable for the small display on your phone. Most other apps link to the website for info which is a complete pita.
