I'm probably going to be using the droid as my mp3 player but I might run into a problem using it in my car. I use a casset tape adapter in my car when using my ipod. The Droid has the right size jack but what happens when im listening to music and need to answer a call or use voice. Will people be able to here me through the speakerphone microphone and voice come outa car speakers? I would hate to unplug my audio and grab my phone off the dock just to answer a call when driving. Or maybe somone has made a special adapter just for this situation.

What kind of car do you have? Look for an auxiliary input add-on for your car. I have a Honda Pilot and have researched this for my Blackberry Storm. You install this inline (much better sound than cassette adapter) and then plug a cable between the auxiliary input you added and your headphone jack.

There are Bluetooth options as well to stream via Bluetooth, but in my case, I have XM and rear entertainment, it wouldn't work with all those options.

no i dont an input on my car, my girlfriend does and she will be getting the droid too

That's why I suggested checking out that site, you can add an auxiliary input.

On my BB Storm, if I get a call while listening to audio, the music playback is paused and the call is routed through and picks back up playing afterwards. One gripe is that if I have an audible alert on and I get an email, it pauses playback to send the alert and resumes ~5 seconds later.

If you are using the car dock or your Droid is in Car home it should default to speaker phone. In that case your Droid's mic would work for your voice and the sound would come trough your speakers via the cassette adapter. The only thing I would worry about is feedback from the speakers into the mic.

I have used my xv6800 in this manner. I used an adapter to go from the usb to 3.5 jack so I could listen to items on my phone. When a call came through, I heard the other party through the speakes of the car, and they heard me through the mic on the phone. There was never any feedback, it worked really well. Hopefully it works the same for the droid. I use a cassette adapter as well.

i have ipod integration added to my toyota pickup so it wasn't hard to ad another input. the sound is a little low just like with my ipod when compared to the levels of the radio and cd's. you can hear calls through the car speakers and talk towards the mic on the phone. seems to work ok. i mainly use it for streaming pandora through my stock car audio system. thinking about finding a cheap headphone amp to wire in there somewhere to get levels up. crutchfield dot com is handy for finding exactly what will work with your cars head unit.

A stereo plug has two sections - a plug w/mic has three - the droid can distinguish between what type of headset is plugged in, So, if you plug in headphones onlym the built in mic remains active and if you plug in a headset w/mic, the built in mic is disabled.

Long story short: you won't have any problem using an fm transmitter or AUX input to run the sound out through your car stereo.

It's true.. I'm currently doing this via FM transmitter. Can hear the voice pretty well through the speakers, and they can hear mine normally. If i turn on speakerphone, it plays via phones external speaker, but they tend to have more trouble hearing me for some reason?

I'm actualy getting a new stereo altogether, will be getting Aux input so the sound should be improved, and no more FM hassles, static, and channel flipping.

Next thing, work on seeing if i can get HD radio tags onto the droid! UGH
