Hi,
I have this tablet, which ran pretty well, for storing pictures and music, and then it stopped responding to touch. It responds to touch in recovery mode, but not in tablet mode. I can use it in tablet mode if I attach a mouse, but I"d really like to get the screen working. From what I've read, this suggests a screen driver problem, but getting any software for this old puppy is nearly impossible.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
......... john

Hi ocnbrze,
Oh, I'm way past that. I've tried that many, many times.
Hi dontpanic,
The downloader folder. I don't understand.
Thanks,

factory reset should fix most software issues. your other option is to flash a firmware update, but i have no idea where you can get an official one. there are plenty of links if you google allwinner a23 firmware update. but i do not know if they are legit or not.

if flashing a firmware update does not fix the issue, then your hardware is at fault.

Hi ocnbrze,
I'm going to have to let it go. I've been trying to resolve this issue for several months now, and have made no headway.
I have not been able to find any firmware for it, and no one seems to know what to do with it. It's not worth spending money on.
Thanks again,
........ john

Hi again,
I don't know if I reported this before, but I discovered that the touch screen issue only exists when the system is booted up. It does not exist in recovery mode, i.e. the touch screen works in recovery but not when the system is fully loaded.
I also found that a mouse, attached to the usb port, works when the system is fully loaded. (I haven't tried to see if it works in recovery.) This means that I can do everything, using the mouse, that I was able to do when the touch screen was working.
This, to me, suggests that the problem is software related.
One, online site, suggested that one of the many possibilities for the screen not working, could be a virus. However, I have not been able to find a (free) antivirus software that I can download and install, which will work on this system.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Here are the system specs:
Processor: dual core A23
Model number: Q8H
Android Version: 4.2.2
Firmware Version: 2.0.8
Kernel Version: 3.4.39 android 10@Linux2 #304
