Access to obsolete (?) SendLeap App

A minor malfunction has forced me to change phones. One of the valued apps that still worked well, was SendLeap. When I tried to install it on the new phone, none of my searches for it succeeded. So where/how can I search to find the App I had installed on the old phone. I hope I don't get suggestions for an alternative App - because my question is - HOW CAN I GET SENDLEAP TO INSTALL on my replacement phone.

Apparently it was removed from the play store. I'd contact the developer and see what is the issue...

Usual way to sideload/install an app APK onto your phone, is to copy it from your PC to an SD card, or into the device's internal storage, and then run the APK from the device's file manager. Make sure you have allow installs from unknown sources enabled in the phone's Settings, usually found under the Security Settings.

The replacement phone is a Samsung Galaxy - I have found the APK already downloaded into DOWNLOADS. I can not see a File Manager among the apps. The SAMSUNG 'icon' has a My Files entry. That shows the APK. I see no option to do anything with it.

Yeh, that sounds like file manager app. Different manufacturers may use various names. like on my Huawei it's just called "Files". What actually happens if you just tap on the APK?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 here, and the "My Files" on that, gives me the option to install when I tap on an APK.

FWIW a file management software actually called "File Manager", I think that was a Windows term, and not even Microsoft calls it that now, it's "My Files", "My Computer", etc. now in Windows isn't it? And on a Mac it's called "Finder".

Pressing or tapping changes the appearance of the entry.
The menu contents are irrelevant to the need to install.
I accidentally got 'sendle' involved - NO IDEA if it is reversible.

I saw in a post that if a File Manager is needed, one can be downloaded and installed - did that, and it allowed me to install the APK. Problem solved. Thank you.

Let's try to simplify this.

You wil need to know a few things about your device, because the app that you desire may come in different versions for different devices.

You will need to know the Api number and the OS version.
Typically, these are are found by {your device may vary}:

Settings
System
About phone

Your new phone has a browser.
Use this browser to access an appstore with the capability to download previous versions of apps. {Not the Play Store}
There are a few well trusted ones out there.

https://en.uptodown.com/
{These are a few of what I use- I did not check to see if your app was on them. If it is not, then use the browser on the device to access the same site that you did with your PC.}

Find the app, locate the version that suits your wants and device, and use the browser to download it.
If your browser is incapable of doing this, or else it is difficut , then you need a different browser.
Most {ie., all} stock browsers are sheer garbage, and Chrome is not really any better for other {and the same} reasons.
Let me know if you need a browser that makes this sort of thing extremely simple.

Once the apk of the ap is downloaded, you can find it in your file manager and LONGPRESS it.
A menu with options should appear, with INSTALL being the one you want.
Once again, if it is not just this simple, then I would recommend another file manager- for the same reasons as with the browser.

If INSTALL comes up, and you select it, a screen designed to scare you will appear, telling you that you cannot install from such sources unless you opt to 'Allow Untrusted Sources' or whatever.

Yes, this notice sounds scary.
Disregard it, as you can always go back and change it after you get this app installed, if you choose.

Now, if you longpress the apk in your file manager, and install is not an option, then the most simple thing to do is to download and install an apk installer app.

The one that I use handles a variety of types of apks and is most efficient.
Once again, be prepared for that 'scary message' here, as well.

Ok, so I just checked, and although I got nothing when I typed SendLeap into the search areas in the appstores that I listed, I did a general search {DuckDuckGo} with my phone, btw, and got the link from APKPure, one of the sites listed above.

At any rate, the point here is to never think that Google is your only resource for apps.
In fact, at this point, they are my last source.

Well, if this forum was linked to Google in any way, I {and likely some others} would most likely have nothing to do with it.

There are no solutions to problems that do not exist, lol.

This forum is separate from Google in every way, and that is a great thing.
Did Google come up with any solution for you?

My inquiry about linking is because the Google signin is offered as an option - and is simpler that rummaging around for the forum password.

My account to these forums is linked to my Gmail account. No issues.
Have you chosen sign in with Google option?

When I chose login with Google, I can make no progress. I want to send you a screen shot of that, but to trigger it, I will have to close this and open it again. There seems to be no easy option to Edit, so it will have to be a new post.

PS It's just occurred to me that it MIGHT be caused by the oldness of this browser - I have very good reason to keep this crotchety FFv50 going; but may need to try your suggestion in an up-to-date Chrome. Will try now.

In order for your login to stay logged in, you must allow and then not clear cookies from your browser.

Now, of course, you may not want to do this with your everyday browser.

So what I did was take a version of my favorite browser and change the homepage of the browser to this site.
It is an option built right into a simple, fast, secure browser.

Other cool features are the global dark theme, unlimited bookmarks, unlimited tabs, and more.

Might I suggest using a password vault service. I use the one included with Firefox, but there are others like Lastpass.

I never use things like register and login with Facebook or Google, mainly because I don't want those advertising companies tracking everything I do.

AFAIK, not unless Neverstill Mobile LLC, who runs Android Forums and Phandroid, chooses to use this Google service, and presumably pays them the required amount of $$$ for it. Same with Facebook sign-in that some forums and sites might use. That's why I use a login and password vault, which works on pretty much any forum or site that requires registration and login.
