"App not installed" can mean the particular app version is incompatible with your Android box. Some apps might be offered in 32-bit or 64-bit versions from the dev's website, e.g. Kodi and VLC, if that's the case with the app you're trying to install, try downloading and installing the other version.

yes but its saying do you want to update existing app where as it gives a different message when downloading other apps.It is the kodi app but im downloading a version i had on before i factory reset It wont download over versions ither.

Your particular Android box doesn't have Google Play Store on it, and neither the ARM-32bit or ARM-64bit builds of Kodi will install from here, Kodi's own website? https://kodi.tv/download.

As Kodi is open source, and can be built by anyone, maybe the manufacturer of your box had some special custom build of Kodi they pre-installed, but got deleted after the factory reset?

I have a T95 Android box myself, which does have the Google Play Store, so I just installed Kodi from that.

yes it seems like kodi was pre installed at some stage im completely out of ideas.it was fine before reset but wont install until it thinks its a new install.I dont know if google play store would make a difference

A factory reset would wipe out any apps that wasn't originally system apps. If your box does have Google Play Store, install Kodi from that, because that should be compatible.

Don't know that one, but then there's so many of these different Android boxes from unknown Chinese manfuactureres, it's sometimes difficult to know what's what.
i think its the fact it wants to update existing application and says i wont loose any data.i think im gonna get this where ever i download it from.A new install just asks permission

So, how are you sure that the app does not exist?

Obviously the device thinks that it is there.

Were the apps originally on the device, or did you put them on there, before the reset?

Why did you choose to do a reset?
I downloaded the app but was wiped clean with factory reset. The app was not preinstalled. I factory reset as an addon i use had no menu when i clicked on it and i no for sure it was working so after some messing about just thought a factory reset might be best way to sought it.

Its odd as i downloaded different app no problem then i uninstalled it and installed it again to make sure all was working and it was so its got me baffled.Im currently booting an old version of libreelec from usb which i downloaded the other day and thats working good but still id like my app on android.Anyway i think this one may have the experts baffled.

If all else fails i could try finding and flashing new firmware but im not confident and dont want to go down that route as so many stories of people bricking box. Who knows even that might not solve the problem.
