Hey guys, just an FYI.

I just pre ordered my DROID by calling into Verizon Wireless Sales, their main number and they give the instant rebate over the phone if you do it over the phone ... so yeah just wanted to give a heads up.


I won't be getting my phone on friday, anyone who pre orders over the phone will NOT get your phones on friday, it would be like tuesday or wed...

I'm actually fine with waiting because i know i will get one.

Another FYI- the verizon rep over the phone said they have 65,000 units to sell for PHONE sales... this is seperate then what best buy and verizon stores are getting..

So if you really want to make sure you are getting one... just call in.

I am really surprised by the way Verizon does this. Are they purposely wanting people to either buy online, at Best Buy or over the phone instead of buying the phone from a Corporate Store? I mean why let all these other places give the rebate instantly, yet the corp stores cannot? I was in my local corp store this weekend and they were begging me to buy from them next Friday, but why do I want a $100 gift card when I can just get the phone for $199 at Best Buy a block away. They said their sales are bad and need customers.... I would like to help, but don't see the logic...

Just called the first number you listed. Your contact was not available, but another person told me that they were not accepting preorders and that he would put me on a list to get a call back on Friday morning and I could order the phone then.

The thing about customer service is it's so inconsistant you know? some people were saying they walked into VERIZON stores and some people didn't even know about the phone... so yeah

the guy that i spoke to heith took down my order, and i even ordered a Car Charger, the DROID'S Dock, and the Car Dock for the Droid, he even applied the 10$ discount to them which made them like 26$ or something each he said.

I asked him if what i was doing would put me in a better position 'in line" towards getting the droid and he said yes.




Obviously the way it works is you don't get CHARGED on your card until friday. if you do it over the phone. They charge your card on friday.

But you do get the Instant Rebate over the phone and i'm also garunteed an earlier spot in line then someone else who orders after me.


i know that i won't get my phone until tuesday... which is a given and i'm fine with that. But i guess my chances of doing it this way? are way better then going into a best buy in my area... i love in the DC area.. and i figure those places will be mad busy.

2. Can you get new every two on a different phone if you return it?
3. Does verizon have a policy so people don't keep returning phones every 29 days?

My experiences,

1. They made me mail it back to their location that they mailed it from. They would not let me return to the store. It's like different systems the online/over the phone one, and the one in each stores.

2. Yea you can get your new every 2 if you return the phone that you applied it on and then get a new phone to apply the new every 2 discount on.

3. It doesn't say anything on their sales receipt, and the policies have to made presentable to the customer (thats probably some state law which varies the wording but in general thats the idea). But what companies do do in order to prevent people from doing this over and over is no longer give you your money back right away. They have the right to mail you a check which could take well as long as they see fit almost.

So this deters people from doing this as their money doesn't get returned directly back to them, it is held by the company for a certain time till they want to issue you a check.

I don't think you actually got a pre-order. I think either the sales person was pulling your leg, you misunderstood and he was simply adding you to a notification/reminder call list, or you're just bs-ing us. Verizon has stated many times that they will not be taking pre-orders on the Droid. Also, Verizon does not give the mail-in rebate as an instant rebate on anything other than internet orders.

If you did, indeed, get a pre-order in, consider yourself lucky. You're probably the only one on the planet. lol

Or maybe the salesman did take the order and now Heith has been fired because all these calls started coming in and the bosses found out and showed him the door. (Poor Heith!) That's why he was "not available" when others called.

do you currently have a business account? They give them different rules then the typical accounts.

I read this post yesterday and called too. The woman told me that they could not be ordered over the phone. She informed me that the first place to order the phone will be the Internet.

Phone will be available approx 12:30am EST online. I'm guessing they've given us an approx in case of server crash or what not.
