CAN'T ROOT OR UNLOCK BOOTLOADER, HELP?

So i have a Samsung galaxy folder 2, Korean vers SM-G160N using in UK.
Android Marsh 6.0.1
Snapdragon 425
I can't for the life of me root it / even unlock the bootloader.

Tried rooting apks, rooting via usb / windows.
Unlocking bootloader via ADB - Will detect phone in ADB devices but not in fastboot mode. OEM unlock in dev options is turned on!!!
computer doesn't register phone as in fastboot / bootloader mode but just as normal samsung phone
(just error waiting for device)
installed SDK tools but still same above problem
Tried all this driver stuff for the adb side but nothing worked.

Help?

why do you want to root the device? there is no dev community behind the phone. there is no custom recovery....more on this later. there are no custom roms.....which would be my main reason for rooting a phone.

found this one for you:https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/root-twrp-for-galaxy-folder-2-dual-sim-sm-g1650.3785752/

read the 2nd post. the xda member was able to use twrp custom recovery from a slightly different model....but touch does not work in recovery.

So I can use apps with root access. My model is SM-G160N.
ok just be careful if you plan on deleting bloatware or system apps. if you do you can use twrp to make a nandroid backup. but like i said before twrp will not have touch working.....so you will more likely have to use adb commands from your computer with the phone hooked up to it, to be able to make the nandroid backup.

Now all i need is a root or bootloader method for my actual model number
ok so sincee there is no written method for your phone. here are the basics. you will have to do most of the research after this.

1. you need to get the bootloader unlocked. if there is no "oem unlock" in developers mode then you will not be able to get the bootloader unlocked, especially if you have the snapdragon processor vs exynos. sammy's with snapdragon processors have a locked bootloader and you will have to wait for devs to figure out a way to unlock it. but there is no dev community for your specific device, so.........

2. next you will then need to get twrp installed. this will entail that the one i linked will work(except for touch) on your phone. if twrp does not work, you can try step 3.

3.installing magisk:
a. installing without recovery:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-device-with-magisk-without-recovery.3779454/
b. installing wiith recovery:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-device-with-magisk-without-recovery.3779454/

now you are rooted......of course you will need to get adb setup correctly in order to do this.

I'm from the UK so I'm not fluent in Korean unfortunately, I need devs & fun

Been a Korea variant phone, I presume it uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Rather than Samsung's own Exynos processor, which is in most countrys like UK and EU etc.
FYI devs that specialise on Samsung phones, are nearly always working with the Exynos devices, and not Snapdragon, which are only China, Korea, Japan, and USA. And in the USA, Samsung Snapdragon devices are pretty much impossible to root.

Yeah definitely snapdragon!

ocnbrze - I cannot unlock the boot loader as shown above

Go into the Developer settings and see if it has an option "OEM unlocking", if checked that's allows the bootloader to be unlocked. I know USA Snapdragon variant phones might not have this. But China variant Samsungs do allow bootloader unlocking. Korea variants maybe the same.

I have already tried to unlock the boot loader as on my post

The device is not registered on the computer as a fast boot device
Just shows as the Samsung
All my other devices register as fast boot devices when I boot into the boot loader

So that sounds like Korea Snapdragon variants are same as America variants.

Basically you might be SOL.

it will not work in fastboot until you oem unlock from the developers option. once that is done then you should be able to get fastboot commands to work. if not then you are SOL as @mikedt suggested.
