Hi Everyone, I have just updated a Note 9 and a S8 to latest firmwares and now I cannot access mobile data. Other sims work fine in both phones and my sim works fine in a Note 8 that has not been updated to the latest firmware. I still get reception and can make calls and use tesxt messaging, its just the data that doesnt work, I have done Factory resets and still the same issue.

I have no idea why this has happened.

Any help or advice would be great, as both Samasung and Telstra(Aussie Mobile Carrier) have no idea. All Samsung says is send the phone in, which I am more likely to think its a Sim issue with my phone? Maybe its an old sim card and latest android need newer sims? I am just grabbing at straws here thou.

Hi Mikedt
Check the APN details are correct and present for your carrier Telstra. If they're incorrect or missing, wireless data won't connect.
Done all that, done APN resets, done Network Resets, Factory Resets, other telstra sims work in the phone too. Thats why I am leaning towards it being the SIM, possibly replace the SIM may solve it?

this is an english only site.....use google translate:

and google says:
Reboot your computer
and that response has nothing to do with the op's issue

@gmhhsv99 you might need to do a factory reset. it could have been a bad download or a bad install. it happens, not very often......but it happens.

edit:never mind that....i did not see that you already tried this. i agree that this might be a SIM card issue.

Thats the conclusion I am coming too, I also just brought a Telstra Pre-Paid sim and put it in the phone, straight away can get Data. So i will go see Telstra and ask for a new sim and see how that goes.

I just dont understand why my old sim is not compatible with the new android, i have probably had that sim for 6 - 8 years, possibly there is something that newer sims have that i dont know of to do with security, no idea?

But still that old sim works fine in a Iphone 5, 7, Samsung Tab 4 and Samsung Note 8 (the Samsungs that have not been updated to the latest firmware yet).

Anyway when I find out will let you know.
