Need Help with Galaxy S10e

All of a sudden when I call a friend I cannot hear him. He can hear me. When he calls we can both hear as usual. I've deleted him as contact, updated phone, and put him back in. Doesn't work. No blocking involved. Both Android - mine is Galaxy S10e and his is Motorola. Texts and emails go back and forth as usual. Any advice? Greatly appreciated.

He does get calls fine, including from mine.
but the person calling your friend can hear fine, correct? just wondering if it is his phone that is the issue and not yours.

one thing you can also do is try putting the phone in safe mode. this will prevent any 3rd party apps from running. this will determine if an app is doing this. if you get a good connection when you call your friend than an app maybe the culprit. if you are still getting the problem, then it is not an app but something with your phone. if this is so, then you might want to do a factory reset as it might be some weird software glitch.

Thanks so much! I am trying safe mode now and then will reboot to factory settings if it doesn't work. Yes, my friend can hear me fine. It's too late to call him tonight so I'm doing the safe mode and will try tomorrow. But again, seriously, I appreciate it!!! I will let you know tomorrow how it worked out. I just used the link you shared. (And I promise, I am NOT a "lurker". LOL)

ocnbrze: OMG! The non-tech day from hell. The safe mode didn't work. So, I had a great learning curve on uninstalling any app that was installed after the last time we can pinpoint the phone worked right between us (mine the galaxy s10e and his the motorola moto e) backing up my data, photos, contacts, etc. Got all my photos to Google. All my contacts I can see fine in my Outlook. And I have something now with Samsung Switch. Sigh.

Meanwhile, it all went across the transom fine. I reset to factory settings successfully. I reset up my phone. Then my LAPTOP (Dell) shut down and won't come back up. Thankfully, I have more than one laptop. And I have Dell support service so tomorrow when I am rested and less frustrated I'll call them. Meanwhile, I've tried every instruction I can find on the internet to export my contacts from Outlook back to my phone which you'd think would be a fairly simple process according to the instructions but nope. I even get to a dropdown box that says to EXPORT. Then it doesn't.

The icing on the cake is that Samsung now "owns me" with having access to all the information I had carefully guarded from them to keep separate my Microsoft accounts from Google. Now they're all braided together. Okay. HOWEVER, the biggest insult is that the SAME PHONE PROBLEM still exists. He calls me and it's normal, we both hear each other fine. I call him and he can hear me but it's a dead line in my ear. I've tried calling several other people and I can hear them fine. Sheeeesh.

Anything else come to mind? We're accommodating by me calling and he calls me back. Sorry for the poor me story... LOL

As a follow-up... Nothing I tried worked. I asked a tech who came to the house to replace a hard drive on one of my laptops. How ironic - he had recently had similar issues with he and his wife's phones. My issue was between two android phones. His is android and his wife's is iPhone. To this minute the issue isn't resolved. That said, the fact that it happened to someone else who is fulltime IT service guy for android and pcs gives me hope that when I trade in my phone in February the problem will disappear! :)
