This is ridiculous. My Evo's battery is barely lasting from 8am to 5pm. With almost no usage at all. Time without a signal shows 2%. The signal where I am at is very good. I get full bars almost all the time.

I'm going to assume that the issue is on my end, unless some of you guys have the same problem. I have 2 theories to why the Cell Standby is almost 50%

1. Since the Evo has so much memory, almost all applications are running in the background and never get killed. So they ones that use the 3g network in the background is killing the battery.

2. Some software glitch might be making the phone search for 4G signals, even though I've explicitly disabled 4G.

These are just wild guesses and probably are not right.. I'm just so sad the battery dies so fast.

Anyone else got this issue? I might do a wipe tomorrow to see if it's an app I installed that's screwing things up.

Download advanced task killer and manually kill off apps when you're done with them and see if that improves things.

Also somebody mentioned that the FriendStream widget sucks up battery life by a big amount, do you have that active?

No I dont have FriendStream. I've been using the task manager, but haven't been keeping tabs on whether it affects the batteries. I'll see.

I Heard Someone Mention That It Usually Takes Around 10 Charges To Fully Charge The Battery. Maybe That's Why.

I know on my hero depending on which build I was using, TWS could be 50%, but cell-standby was always between 30 and 50%.
On the builds with with 0% TWS and 30 to 50% cell-standby battery was great, but on build with 50% TWS and 30 to 50% cell-standby I would get less than a day.

On my Droid I had that problem with custom ROMs, but fixed it with the Airplane Mode trick. You should try that (google it). Got my TWS on Droid down to 0 again.

Edit: Already tried that "fix" on the Evo, didn't work

Can you check what your Up Time vs Awake Time is? Path on the Incredible is Settings>About Phone>Battery. Having this equal is what killed my phone, and has been an issue with some people over on the Incredible side.

Do you have a Flickr account setup on your phone? If so, try deleting the account and restarting the phone to see if that helps.

Worked for my Incredible and now getting 2 days with medium use whereas before I was getting like 12 hours.

Right now...

Battery Level is about 50% (haven't plugged it in since this morning)

Up Time: 1:00:23
Awake Time: 0:15:46

Battery Use:
Android System 36%
Cell Standby 31%
Phone Idle 25%
Display 8%

I'll go read that other thread you linked to now. And no, I don't have a Flickr account set up.

I posted a detailed usage report in my own review thread, so check that out.

I don't follow your question here?

I meant how is your battery usage distributed: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_NEvPcXQofAU/S_yS1aDOwvI/AAAAAAAAmBo/CLebmczPpLY/s512/2010-05-25 20.17.03.jpg

Hmm I removed the Flickr account yesterday night before seeing your post. I'll see how the battery holds up today at work.

Ok after another day of using the Evo, my batteries are still dying around 5pm.

No flickr, no friendstream, no 4g, awake time != upTime, cell standby still dominating (but with ~35% instead of 40%), all unused apps killed with Advanced Task Manager, etc

Maybe this is supposed to be the battery life of the Evo? If thats the case, then it's very disappointing as my Droid lasts through the day with no problem, even though it's clocked at 1.2 ghz.

And another thing I still don't understand is why Cell Standby is so high on the Evo and Display is so low. On the Droid Display is like 70% and cell standby not more than 20%..

Can you clarify what your usage was like, during the day? Approximately how many hours since you had (presumably) fully charged and what % were you at when it was "dying."

Usage was very minimal. I tried to turn on the screen as little as I could, just to measure the affects on my battery life.

As you can see in my first post, my display takes up very little battery power. The cell standby seems to be draining it the most.

Around 5pm, the less than 5% warning would come up.

if it is on GSM auto PRL switch it to CDMA Auto Prl

This seemed to help my battery life on my hero
maybe it will work on the EVO

Can you define what a high percentage would be? I regularly see 3% for TWS. My Evo is already set to CDMA Auto PRL. Thanks

I wonder if any of the other old cdma codes work on the evo........

I tried a lot of the codes on here Google Android Phone Codes - Nexus One Forum - Google Phone Forum

But very few work on the Evo.

hmm, here is a list of other code that i have found to work on several diff phones (not just pre's) most of the are sprint's standard CDMA hash code that the techs use to work/fix/program things
Pre Specific Hash Codes - PreCentral Forums
(not all of these, some ARE just for the pre, but some i have gotten to work on several sprint AND nextel phones i have used in the past)
