Help Will my UK desire work in the US?

I'm going to the US in a couple of weeks, will my desire work over there? I'm not thinking for phone calls really, but wifi would really help.

wifi will work anywhere in the world(with a wifi hotspot). and i having a quick look, the desire should work fine for phone calls. but remember to turn of all internet features as it will be very expensive on your phone bill

I assume that if I switch my 'mobile' button off (as I usually do being on orange), then this will mean I won't get any roaming charges? Thanks for the reply, I doubt I'll make any calls, but the wifi will definitely be useful.

Yep, no mobile data chargers. Remember that being abroad, you probably won't use your service plan minutes, and they'll be double expensive. They usually charge you for receiving sms and calls too

Just want to check that my UK T-Mobile HTC Desire will work with a T-Mobile USA PAYG Sim card?

My HTC Desire is already unlocked.
