AndroidCentral Evo/Pre Comparison

I agree with him.

I think Google or HTC should buy Palm and integrate their card feature and notifications feature into their current system (Android or Sense).

Combine what's already great, with a couple of features that are greater. I have used Android for all of 10 minutes but from all the videos I've seen I'm sure I'm going to love it. But I'd love it more if it had some of the features of WebOS.

Google would have to buy Palm from HP so that's not going to happen. But, I really loved WebOS. I like Android but truth be told, WebOS is better designed from the UI standpoint than Android, Sense, Motoblur, or iPhone OS. Programming-wise, I'm not sure (not a programmer). But I'm committing to Android now because of user base and manu support.

Still loved the Pre though.

Having used Android on a G1, myTouch3g, Moto Cliq, and for now an HTC Hero until I get my Evo, I have to say I definitely prefer webOS. In my opinion the notifications are better, the OS is a lot more polished and in general more interesting when it comes to look (messaging, etc.) In webOS you can swipe away individual notifications, which I like. Plus phone calls aren't intrusive like every other phone platform. There were times on my Pre when I was writing a text or email, and the phone call would slide up from the bottom and I could finish typing before answering the call. Android interupts you, lol. Plus I definitely prefer cards. I'm happy enough with Android for now, and the Evo is only going to improve on that, but I'm really curious to see what Palm will have out in a year. There's a great chance I would switch back because I truly think webOS is the best mobile OS out of them all. But I guess I better quit that talk since I'm on the android forums, lol.

The Pre would have been awesome if it was on better hardware (similar to the Droid for example since they came out at a similar time). The 500mhz CPU speed wasn't going to cut it.

Wholeheartedly agree.....dont get me wrong, I love my PRE....but when it was released it was lacking things it needed to compete.

By the time WebOs was completely stable, the PRE's hardware was already behind the times.

But as far as Google/Android buying Palm, no need now, they just hired the lead developer that worked on the WebOs UI.....Im sure they are already trying to pick his brain to incorporate things into Android.
