This post is for everyone thinking about buying an extended or third-party battery.

BatteryBoss Calls Out False Capacity Claims!

It's a scientific breakdown of smartphone batteries. Basically, the conclusion is that most 3rd party and some 1st party batteries don't live up to their rated specs, and some are outright wastes of money.

READ THAT SITE now, before making any battery purchases.

Thanks.

BatteryBoss lists this ebay listing as an actual OEM 1500mAh for $15, and it tests out.

Eh, I've had a Seido 2600mAh extended battery for my palm pre and it was the best investment for that phone I made. Dramatically improved battery life, I could get almost a couple days on heavy usage and with the stock battery, that same usage would net about 12 hours if that. I used the phone with the stock battery for the first 3 months and then used the Seido for about 7 months, at that point got rid of the phone. My GF also has a Seido extended in her Pre and is still using it.

So that site may have some things to think about, but I wouldn't just take it at that and completely discount getting an extended battery. For me, my personal experience means a bit more to me than a website claiming all third-party batteries are not very good.

Wait a minute. If it's on the internet it MUST be right. :)
