Sprint Conditional Call Forwarding

Getting my EVO tomorrow, bought from Google I/O attendee. Not 100% sure I am going to ditch my Sprint Touch Pro 2. I think I will activate the EVO using the Google I/O free month of service and use conditional forwarding on my Sprint TP2 subscribed number and direct it to the EVO. That way I can keep the TP2 off, or with the phone radio off at least, and get calls routed to the EVO for free with no/very little delay. That way I can test the EVO without switching service from my TP2, and not give out the temp EVO phone number, and not rack up charges on my existing subscription with Sprint.

To enable conditional call forwarding:
*28 + number + send

To disable conditional call forwarding:
*38 + send

I think this will work without charging me airtime to my TP2 account, as opposed to standard call forwarding (*72) which is quite costly.

you are talking about Unconditional Call Forwarding (*73) as opposed to Conditional call Forwarding (On Busy our Unaswered *28). Using *28 Will only send the caller to your fowarded Numbers Voicemail (I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that is the way it works) after 3 or 4 rings. Unconditional Call Forwarding would send all call immediately to your forwarded number. Double check with Sprint but Unconditional is Free for those with a Simply Everything Plan... all other plans it is 0.20 per call

Oh yeah. I just realized that you set up Google Voice with *28. I guess it would only go to voice mail.

So if I have conditional call forwarding setup and my phone is off or out of service area, the conditional forwarding would occur if a call comes in and there would be no charge?

Colorado if you have a simply everything plan just use *72 because you want all calls direct

I don't have the simply everything plan. I have the simply cheapest smartphone plan, or whatever the $69.99 plan is called.

Confirmed. When my Sprint sub is set for *28 conditional forwarding, and my TP2 is off, or has the phone radio off, the forward is immediate!! No *72 charges for me!
